Each semester the Student Organization Expo, sponsored by the College Union & Activities Department, provides an opportunity for new and returning students to talk to leaders of student organizations and volunteer for membership. New students in the GOLD program may earn bronze certificate credit by registering for this program, obtaining a special form at the GOLD Student Organization Expo Fair table, and visit at least ten specific organizations. Participation in student organizations is an expectation of students earning leadership certificates.

Pearls of Wisdom from Successful Leaders: Insights from the Front Lines (GOLD)

At Geneseo, Ira Shinske majored in elementary education and psychology and taught in NYC, joined the U.S. State Department Bureau of Diplomatic Security and presently works for the Transportation Security Agency. During his tenure with the U.S. State Department he accompanied Secretary of State Madeline Albright and United Nations Ambassador Bill Richardson during their trips abroad. After 9-11 Shinske became Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the Federal Air Marshal Service in New York responsible for the daily activities of 25 air marshals. His stories are fascinating and filled with leadership insights. Learn some tips and tools from a leader on the front lines.
