Concerned Alaskans for Resources and Environment
(C.A.R.E.): A Grassroots organization of citizens, small business and
industry.
Mission: Build a support network throughout
Alaska for the economy of
Southeast Alaska.That includes fishing,tourism, mining, community
business and timber.
Thier Goals: Organize other parts of Alaska to support
access to the
Tongass National Forest and the economy of Southeast Alaska.
Organize grassroots support in the lower 48 states to guarantee a
stable Tongass timber supply and the economy of Southeast Alaska.
Cooperate with existing groups such as the Resource Development
Council, The Alliance, Arctic Power, Alaska Miners Association, Alaska
Forest
Association, Chambers of Commerce, Visitors and Tourism Bureaus.
Develop a communication network with grassroots groups in all parts
of
Alaska and the Lower 48 States so we can count on support for one
anothers' issues.Promote fair and accurate reporting of environmental
and
resource management issues and increase media exposure.Achieve greater
public participation and involvement by informing members and associates
of critical issues.Advocate members' interests with agencies and
administrative officials.Hold elected officials accountable for sustainable
jobs and responsible resource development.Actively support or oppose
critical legislation.Prepare factual information and make available
to the
public.
