Mathematics 233

Bring a copy of this full syllabus to class on Wednesday, August 29.

Here's my single favourite history of mathematics web site .  Look there for more information about the history of anything in mathematics.

Maple software can be downloaded from software.geneseo.edu (login and select the category Academic).  Here are some installation tips.

On Wednesday 5 September at 7:00p in Welles 123, there will be an introduction to TeX, the mathematical typesetting software.  All are welcome.

Missing the maple activites that go with our textbook?  They are in my outbox in a folder called "Visual Linear Algebra".  CIT says the best way to access outboxes is here.  You may possibly access them via a browser here (after logging in with your Geneseo account).  Next select your operating system, and read the Readme.pdf file to find directions.  The "VLA" folder is at the original level.  (To download files you will need to tell your browser to save them - merely clicking will not work.)  To test your maple installation, I recommend trying a file called "maplebasics.mws" which is in my outbox but in a folder called "MultiMaple" (or follow the link).  Don't give up - keep working until you (and they) get this running correctly.

Want to know more about problem sets?  (Includes problems, and eventually solutions).
