The FOPAs

Before an MTC show, 'Xander and I enjoyed dinner together with out parents at the big tree. At that time, it was decided that the NARD fathers should also form a barbershop quartet. After much discussion, their name - The FOPAs - was decided. It actually has three meanings:

  1. The first letters of their middle names - Francis, Oscar, Patrick, and Arthur.
  2. Four Fathers (Four "Pa"s)
  3. A group of faux pas.

Two rehearsals and performances have taken place, one after the 2:00 PM show of Forever Plaid, and one after graduation, where the four gentlemen learned part of Coney Island Baby and sang it for the boys, family, and the like. I'm still working on obtaining a recording of their performance, but haven't yet tracked it down... Hopefully soon!

For the record, their NARD counterparts (by voice, highest to lowest) work out as follows:

Voice Part NARD FOPA
Tenor I Nick Mr. Line
Tenor II (Lead) Rob Mr. Gordon
Baritone Alex Mr. MacDonald
Bass Dave Mr. Moran

July 6th, 2008: In a very TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze-Esque fashion, the NARD Website has found a new home. Now that we've graduated, Geneseo has disabled our user accounts, which includes the location of the NARD Website (it was on my (Dave's) webspace). So, now we've found a new comfy home, still conveniently located on the Geneseo web servers. Still don't see the parallels between us and the Ninja Turtles? Check it out for yourself:

Turtles live happily in their sewer home for some time. The NARD website lives happily in Dave G's webspace (http://www.geneseo.edu/~dgg2/)
The Foot Clan come in and drive the turtles out of their home. CIT comes in and drives the NARD website out of its home(They disabled my account because I graduated)

NARD Wins! Cool!

Forever Plaid and the Final Concert up soon. Here's a clip from Spicy Pie!

May 7th, 2008: That's it.

We did Forever Plaid, Recorded our CD, and had our final concert. We may do an impromptu song here or there before we leave, but aside from singing the National Anthem at graduation, NARD is... well, done.

It's been an absolutely fantastic four years. It's weird, because there's both a trenendous amount to say, and, well also nothing left to say. I'll be adding content periodically over the next few weeks - I'd like to put as much as Forever Plaid online as possible, as well as some footage from our final concert, graduation(when it comes) and the like. I'll also put some clips of Spicy Pie, and any other media I can think of.

Thank you, everyone. So much.

April 10th, 2008: So, we sang at a concert a bit ago, premiering the Jungle Book Medley (Thanks FRED!) and One More Minute - not to mention some ridiculous German outfits/sausages. Anyway, besides that, we've been really busy putting together Forever Plaid (April 12th, Alice Austin, 2:00 PM and 11:00 PM, FREE) as well as recording our first, final, and only CD - Spicy Pie. Additionally - the compilation DVD is near completion; the only thing left to do is record and add the commentary track. All in all, the DVD will feature over 3.5 hours of NARD Footage from over four years of singing.

The ride may be almost over, but the best is yet to come.

January 15th, 2008: Got some of the stuff I wanted to done. Still workin', though... Things I did:

  1. Uploaded all of KAJINGA!
  2. Uploaded the Banana Split Video
  3. Uploaded the Simon and Garfunkle Medley from Kaleidoscope
  4. Uploaded the Hallelujah Chorus from Kaleidoscope
  5. Put all the videos on Youtube to free up space
  6. Embedded all videos on the media page and made a loader for them
  7. Uploaded all our scripts, programs, and other materials from Christmas Concerts
  8. Updated Performances

So, check out the media page for the new goodies. More as I get the chance to do it.

December 20th, 2007: A lot planned over break for the site. Just so I can't slack off, I'm going to post my plans here so people can harass me when I don't get them done. Things to accomplish include:

  1. Upload Banana Split Video
  2. Upload 3 Little Pigs Video
  3. Upload KAJINGA! Show
  4. Upload older NARD Materials (Christmas Scripts, programs)
  5. Add an E-Card or two
  6. Work on humor section
  7. NARD Compilation DVD

So, that's the agenda. Let's see how much I can do.

August 15th, 2007: The site is now public - wow. Considering I rewrote most of the content on here from scratch, gave it a completely new design and structure, and added a REAL ECard system(I wrote it myself!) I gotta say, for once, I am *really* pleased with this website. So much more to add (humor is a work in progress, but it's partially done - look!) but the other things are getting there. Send a NARDCard, read more about us, listen to some classic tunes, and get pumped for the most amazing year of NARD's career.

August 10th, 2007: Making pretty good progress. Most of the minor sections are done, but I still have to redo the media section (which will really just entail reorganizing the files and adding a few new ones) and the humor section (which needs to be totally redone, and in itself is the biggest section on the site). Oh well. I'm still pretty pleased with the style of the site - never really done a brown-schemed style before, but I'm really enjoying it.

August 8th, 2007: Yup. Another site redesign. The old one was decent, but it had gotten to the point where I was sick of it; it was only half of what I wanted it to be, and the only thing it really succeeded in *being* was huge and in your face, which is boring. It needed more character - hence the new design. I think it's kinda classy, actually, which is ridiculous, because NARD is the least classy thing in existence; but, then again, that in itself makes it work - or at least makes me feel that it does. I'm redoing al the sections, including all the humor sections, as well as adding some new content, including some videos and the E-Card system I've wanted to implement for, like, two years now but never had the understanding (which I now have) or the time (which, unfortunately, I don't, but screw it) to do. I mean, c'mon - NARD's my favorite thing at Geneseo; why shouldn't I put a lot of time into the site? Look for updates over the next few days.
