(Virtual Instruments System Information) The Vision monitoring system is designed to monitor a 2 MV Van De Graff accelerator in the Geneseo Nuclear Structure Laboratory. The two main points of interest are the temperatures at the intakes/outtakes of the cooling water for the diffusion pumps and the pressures within the vacuums. Measurements of these values are taken with LabView via data acquisition boards. Limits may be set by the user on the vacuums and temperatures. If these limits are exceeded the program will sound alarms to alert the user of the specific problem. Values for the temperatures and vacuums are remotely accessible over the web and are also logged by the Vision system to a formatted text file. This is useful for checking overnight and weekend activity within the laboratory. The goal for the Vision monitoring system is to alert someone of potentially dangerous situations within the lab early enough to intervene. |
