About Us
Our Mission: Geneseo Outing Club strives to provide an easy way for students to experience the great outdoors. The outings we offer challenge students both physically and mentally, while creating a setting in which students develop new skills and make meaningful friendships. Each trip allows students to try new things and step outside their everyday boundaries, while having help and support from their fellow members. Students gain an appreciation for the outdoors, and learn the significance of protecting and enjoying the wilderness. Most importantly, we always have fun!
Brief History: The Outing Club was started three years ago by a group of students who simply had a love for the outdoors that they wanted to share with the Geneseo community. Two years ago, GOC was officially recognized by SUNY Geneseo, and since then we have continued to grow.
GOC has traveled all over the northeast, from caving in the Adirondacks to camping locally. Students backpacked in the high peaks region of the Adirondacks, rock climbed in Rochester, hiked in Letchworth State Park, and much more.
