Spring Break
For the past two years, GOC has lead an Alternative Spring Break trip down to Louisville, Kentucky to clean the Ohio River. GOC works with environmental organization, Living Lands and Waters, to clean up different sections of the river over the course of a week.

Cost:
Because LL&W covers our accomodations and meals for the week (we stay at the Southern Baptist Seminary), the cost of the trip is significantly less than other Alternative Spring Break trips. We have also been fortunate enough to recieve support from the Livingston CARES committee and Student Association in the past. While the price varies from year to year, you can expect the per-person cost to be somewhere between $60 and $85. Most students bring some spending money as well, as there are lot of things to do in Louisville.
What we do:
LL&W plans out our itinerary for the week. Each day we go to a different site on the river and... pick up trash! Sometimes we help bring the boatloads of trash we collected back to the barge, or, once back at the barge, help sort the trash into scrap metal, tires, lumber, and just garbage.
We also have free time built into our schedule. There is plenty of time to explore Louisville and see various museums, shops, and stores. Since we have our own cars, people travel in groups to various locations.
If you have any other questions, please email us at outing@geneseo.edu. Again, trip specifics vary from year to year, and will not be planned until the beginning of the spring semester. There are a limited number of spots, so don't be afraid to show your interest early!
