Online Writing: Coffeehouse and Wiki
You are required to take part in conversation at the Virtual Coffeehouse. For each class meeting, I will post a question at the Coffeehouse to which every student must reply by 11:59 p.m. of the day before that meeting.
You are required to participate in collaborative writing at the Collaborative Writing Project, SUNY Geneseo's wiki (what's this?).
There are two ways to participate in collaborative writing. You can contribute to an entry in the CWP's Dictionary of Literary and Critical Movements or add annotations to one of the CWP's annotated texts associated with this class. Please do not attempt to annotate a text associated with another class. Annotations may be factual or interpretive.
You are welcome to contribute to both the Dictionary and the annotated texts.
Collaborative writing will constitute 10% of your final grade. You can earn an "A" for this 10% by making a single, substantial (more than one paragraph), and careful contribution to the Dictionary; by making several (three or more) small but substantive contributions (not just editorial changes) to the Dictionary; by adding a lengthy (but not wordy) annotation to a single poem or several brief (but substantive) annotations to one or more poems. These are not the only ways to earn an "A," but they should help you understand the kind of participation I'm looking for. In thinking about your own contributions, ask yourself how successfully they address the community learning outcomes for our class.
Students with Disabilities
SUNY Geneseo will make reasonable accommodations for persons with documented physical, emotional or learning disabilities. Contact Tabitha Buggie-Hunt, Director of Disability Services to discuss needed accommodations as early as possible in the semester.
You must complete all assignments to receive a passing grade in this course.
