The Sigma Tau House Fund

Whether it was 6 Park Street, 11 Bank Street, or 10 Court Street everyone can relate to how much a fraternity house contributes to the overall college experience. It has always been a dream to own your own house and it's time to put words into action. We plan on laying the foundation so that future generations of brothers can benefit and flourish. The current actives are enthusiastic to begin saving money for a house fund, but dues and opens do not exactly provide enough revenue to allow for this. This article outlines the fraternity's house fund that we will be setting up with semester with the support and aid of our generous alumni. You can really make a difference.

First and foremost we need to get a non-for-profit tax ID which would come from applying for 501(C)7 status with the IRS. The first step is crucial both in terms of the house fund and liability reasons. Anyone with tax experience or who has done this and would like to help is encouraged to contact this semester's president Aaron Strahl. Although we were incorporated in 1967, we need this tax ID to accomplish our goal.

Second, we would like to get some start up money for the Sigma Tau House Fund. The second step is to take any generous donations and establish a short term investment vehicle. This will be done with the help of one of the active's parents who is a financial advisor in Buffalo. The fraternity will also be able to turn to the fund in times of need assisting in things like formals, making necessary repairs to the house, etc.

Only alumni can help us raise start up money. We hope you can make it
to alumni weekend this semester after such a successful Forty Years of
Pride. Any alumni not able to attend alumni weekend and would like to
still contribute can do so at the corporation page or can send a check to the house. Paypal is both secure and deposits funds directly into the fraternity's bank account. All donors above $300.00 will be recognized on plaques that will be hanging in each room of the house. We know that the above amount might seem high, and we
are truly grateful for any contribution alumni decide to contribute. All donors will be listed on the fraternity's donor page.

Moving on, once a substantial amount of money is reached the next step
is to further diversify our portfolio. The money would be transferred
to separate short and long term vehicles to ensure maximizing investment.

Lastly, the fraternity is in need of alumni advisors that will ensure success. We know that this can not be done alone, and as always we look for the experience and generosity of three alumni who will guide, supervise, and represent alumni. If you are interested in being a part of the Sig Tau House Fund or have any ideas or suggestions, please bring them to alumni weekend or contact the fraternity at your convenience. Please seriously consider making a contribution, because it's the alumni that allow us to survive year after year.

Fraternally yours,
The actives of Sigma Tau Psi
