DO YOU HAVE A PRESCHOOLER WITH AT LEAST ONE BROTHER OR SISTER?
We're looking for families to be in a SUNY-Geneseo study of preschoolers' play with their siblings and
friends. This year we're especially interested in how children play with opposite-sex siblings and same-sex friends. If you have one child who is 3 to 5 years old and another child of the opposite sex who is
15-30 months older or younger, you may be eligible to participate.
Here's what the study involves: We would come to your home four times, for about an hour each time.
The first time we would get acquainted with each other and answer any questions you might have about
the study. The next two visits would be play sessions--during one, we would videotape your two
children playing together; during the other, we would videotape one of them playing with a friend.
Each time we would bring a different set of interesting toys for them to play with. On the last visit we
would show you the videotapes and ask you to fill out a questionnaire. The visits would be arranged at
your convenience--we're available days, evenings, and weekends. We will be visiting families
throughout the school year.
So...if you think your children might enjoy being part of this study, we'd like to hear from you. If you
have friends or relatives living within about an hour's drive of Geneseo who might also be interested,
please pass the information in this flyer along to them.
If you'd like to participate, please return the form below to: Dr. Ganie DeHart, Department of
Psychology, SUNY-Geneseo, Geneseo, NY 14454, e-mail her at dehart@geneseo.edu, or call her at
245-5201. She'll be happy to answer any questions.
Thanks for your help!
