As part of its mission, the Tri-County Teacher Resource Center seeks to help each of its member schools increase
their capacity to provide high quality, effective professional development for all staff.
Professional Development
Cognitive Coaching: The TCTRC sponsors complete trainging in Cognitive Coaching for mentors, administrators,
and teachers. This 8-session training provides skills for professionals to assist other professionals in their
growth and development.
Cognitive Coaching Support: The TCTRC will provide job-embedded support for those trained in Cognitive Coaching
through follow-up workshops, classroom visitations, and one-to-one assistance.
Mentor Training and Support: The TCTRC provides training and networking opportunities for teacher mentors to
help with their observation and coaching skills as well as planning a mentor program.
Co-Teaching: The TCTRC provides training, support, and resources to assist teachers and teaching assistants
in planning and implementing effective co-teaching strategies.
Brain-Based Instruction: The TCTRC provides training, resources, and a collegial study group examining brain-based
learning theory and the implications on classroom instruction.
 A professional development program designed to introduce educators at
all grade levels to a valuable resource to help teachers effectively integrate Internet Content for the Classroom into the
K-12 curriculum.
New Teacher Programs: The TCTRC can help sponsor or present programs to help with induction and support of new teachers
Socratic Seminar: This technique can help students reach higher levels of thinking, be better prepared for the writing
process and reading comprehension.
Alternative Approach to Instruction: The TCTRC provides traning, support, and resources in such areas as 4MAT, differentiated
instruction, learning styles, and multiple intellegences.
Technology Programs: The TCTRC will arrange for a presenter to work with your teachers at their own computers on a variety of
classroom applications.

Facilitation of Collegial Learning
TCTRC Teacher Network Meetings: These meetings provide the opportunity for teachers in specific standards
areas to share ideas and resources, receive content specific training, and learn about national, state, and local initiatives in the content areas.
Study Groups: The TCTRC's resource library and staff are available for teachers engaging in professional
growth projects such as study groups and action research.
On-Line Academy: The TCTRC will sponsor teachers taking courses from the NYS TRC Statewide On-Line Academy program.
Sponsorships and Scholarships
Study Groups: In order to encourage more job-embedded, teacher-led professional development, the TCTRC
will provide funding to create a limited number of teacher study groups.
Scholarships: The TCTRC provides a limited number of scholarships to help offset the cost of
attending training programs and conterences.
Professional Development and Student Learning Support Program: Funding is available for educators in
the TCTRC region for professional development opportunities that can be applied to classroom instruction and student learning.
Professional Library, Equipment, and Other Services
The TCTRC maintains a professional library with books, journals, videotapes, and audio tapes for loan to teachers.
The TCTRC has digital cameras, poster printer, small and large cold laminator, scanner, photo printer, button maker,
and Ellison and Accu-cut machines with an extensive collection of dies for teachers to either borrow or use at the Center.
Teachers can submit orders for materials to the center staff to borrow llibrary resources, have Ellison dies cut or receive
lamination or poster services.
