Carol Holmes, a senior at SUNY Geneseo with a Women's Studies minor and a Psychology major will speak on the topic, "How the Samburu Women of Kenya Experience Polygamy and Arranged Marriages." Carol studied last semester in Kenya. She will discuss her interview project and show slides of the region, as well as the women with whom she spoke. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, at 2:00 p.m. in the College Union Ballroom Lounge. Please join us!

Course Offerings:
Becky Glass will be teaching two courses this summer that count for the Women's Studies Minor: Sociology of the Family will be offered in Session I, and Sociology of Gender Roles will be offered in Session II.

Also, remember that the Master Schedule omitted the following course for Fall, 1995:

INTD 104 Issues in Feminism. W 3:30-6:00 pm. M.E. Zuckerman.

Other SUNY Geneseo Information:
1. The Christine de Pizan Prize for Women's Studies will not be awareded this year. Although many of this year's essays had some strong features, we chose not to award this prize this time.

2. Pat Murphy mentioned that the Sociology Department purchased some new videos with a planning grant. The following videos, which are relevant to Women's Studies, can be borrowed: "How We Got the Vote," "Jeannette Rankin: The Woman Who Voted No," "Sojourner Truth (Black Americans of Achievement Series)," "Women in American Life: 1861-1880," and "Women and Disease."

3. Pat Murphy also mentioned that she has several topical Core Lists in Women's Studies, which have been gathered by the Women's Studies Librarian at University of Wisconsin. check with her for details.
