The Geneseo Opportunities for Leadership Development (GOLD) program offers unique workshops to help students develop the personal skills and knowledge necessary for future success in both life and career.

The GOLD mission is accomplished through education, development, and training of students in an extensive series of personal development programs, institutes, leadership certificates, service learning, volunteer work, and active engagement in college and community life.

All students that earn a GOLD Leadership Certificate will receive an official digital badge (via Credly©) issued by SUNY Geneseo.

94.81% of students rated the GOLD workshops as either "good" or "excellent."

History of GOLD

Since 2000, the GOLD program has been developing leaders at Geneseo! The approach, efforts, and impact of GOLD were captured in the 2014 book Building Leaders One Hour At A Time.

The GOLD program has been recognized nationally as a program of excellence and distinction by the National Association for Campus Activities and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

Most recently, in 2021 the GOLD program received the Excellence in Career Development Services/Programming Award by the SUNY Career Development Organization (CDO).
