Join our Admissions Team as we break down ALL the virtual events that will take place the week of AKD, so you & your family go into each event knowing what to expect and what questions to ask. Mon, March 8: 5:30-6:30pm: New Student Checklist: Class of 2025

After all the hard work of researching schools, filling out applications, and waiting for results, you did it! You made the life-changing decision to attend SNY Geneseo, and we couldn't be happier to have you as part of our community. So, what now? Join us for an informative hour of step-by-step instructions for what you need to do to get ready for college life. Topics include the housing application, orientation, academic advising, setting up your email, and more. This session will be led by an admissions counselor and current students. Congratulations on making it this far! Now, before you stuff the car with every single item you own, let's make a list. In this webinar series, we will explore the must-haves, must-avoids' and, tips-and-tricks of packing for College.

Fri, March 12: 3:30-4:30pm: Build a home, away from home

Moving into the unknown can be intimidating as well as exciting, so let's talk about it! Join our Admissions Team as we engage in the different ways you can prepare for this adjustment as you balance staying connected with those you love with creating a sense of home on campus. Topics will range from coping with homesickness and staying organized to decorating your dorm room and getting involved on campus.

Weds, April 7: 3:30-4:30pm: Sneaky Self-Care Strategies for Students and Families

Self-care is sometimes seen as a selfish act - but actually, like putting on your oxygen mask first on an airplane, it can give you more energy, allowing you to do more for yourself and for others.  This interactive workshop will focus on learning and practicing "sneaky" self-care strategies, or simple techniques that you can work into your everyday life.  The final 10-15 minutes of this program will be an optional body scan visualization practice.

Geneseo Admissions Counselor, and former undecided student herself, Rachel Pasternak, along with current Geneseo students, will talk about what it means to be undecided about your college major. Topics will include:

  • What it means to come to Geneseo without knowing what you want to major in.
  • What services are there to help you figure out what major you want to pursue?
  • Who are the 'go-to' people you can seek out for guidance?
  • When do you have to 'figure it out'?
