Students interested in pursuing veterinary medicine upon graduation from Geneseo typically study biology or biochemistry with courses in general biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, microbiology, physics, English, and speech. Courses in nutrition and statistics are also recommended. Extensive animal care experience is a critical component for admission to veterinary school, and the Geneseo area is rich with opportunities to obtain such experience with all varieties of animals. Co-curricular activities are also considered in the admission process, and opportunities at Geneseo include a pre-vet club, volunteering, study abroad, and undergraduate research. In recent years Geneseo graduates have earned veterinary medicine degrees from many prestigious institutions, including Cornell, Purdue, Ross, Tufts University and University of Illinois.
