Resources for Students and the Community

To better serve its students and the community, the School of Business maintains three centers: The Klainer Center for Women in Business, the Small Business Development Center and the Survey Research Center.

  • Klainer Center for Women and Business
With the support of a generous gift from Ms. Pam Klainer, in 2003 the School of Business created the Klainer Center for Women and Business to support the development of Geneseo students as leaders and citizens, integrate them into the business and public life in upstate New York, and to serve as a locus of research on issues related to women and the workplace.  Today, the Klainer Center continues to promote the leadership development of students across campus through its sponsorship of the Society for Opportunities in Business.  It is advised by Prof. Robert Boyd.

  • Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
In collaboration with the Niagara County Community College, SUNY Geneseo supports and operates a Small Business Center outreach office.  Located in Doty Hall 119, the SBDC provides consulting services and technical assistance to small business located in the Finger Lakes Region.  Mr. Paul Morrell serves as the Director of the SBDC.  The phone number for the SBDC is (585) 245-5429.

  • Survey Research Center (SRC)
Created in 2005, the Survey Research Center supports market research in support of the School of Business as well as projects in the regional business community.  Led by Dr. Paul Scipione who serves as Director, the SRC offers opportunities for Geneseo students to hone their research skills through participation in market research under the tutelage of one of the field’s most savvy practitioners.  The SRC has conducted research and reported findings for numerous regional businesses, organizations and agencies.  Its reports include Western New York Vital Signs (2010).
