The Department of Career Development is located in Erwin Hall room 116 and is part of the Division of Student and Campus Life. The office is committed to offering a comprehensive array of programs and services that support and facilitate career development for our students and alumni. The Department of Career Development specializes in the field of comprehensive career education to inspire students and recent graduates to create and pursue their purpose and dreams.
The Department of Career Development will:
- provide individualized assistance with the identification of skills, values, and interests of each student, and the relationship of those skills to various majors and careers
- assist with employment or graduate school search and application process
- actively reach out to the campus community to provide career services and serve as a resource to the greater college community about career-related and workforce issues
- utilize the expertise and experience of faculty, employers, community members, and Geneseo alumni in departmental programming
- evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance services
- promote staff development through relevant training, participation in conferences, and affiliation with appropriate professional organizations

Jessie Stack Lombardo
Director of the Department of Career Development
Jessie completed her MS in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Buffalo State College and a BA in Psychology from the University at Buffalo. Jessie’s roots are as a career counselor, where she has many years of experience coaching a diverse student, alumni, and community population. She enjoys mentoring and training new practitioners, partnering with employers to teach students about the world-of-work, and teaching and presenting on a wide variety of career-related topics. Jessie is committed to connecting students to the incredible network of SUNY Geneseo alumni and the employment community. In her time away from work, Jessie enjoys adventures with her two children.
Rob was hired in 2013 after working at SUNY Brockport as the Assistant Director for Career Services. Rob has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He is a past-president of the SUNY Career Development Organization and Chair of the Rochester Area Administrators of Volunteer Services. His role is to connect students with internships, develop programs, and support academic departments in the field of applied learning.
Heather began as a career advisor at SUNY Geneseo in January 2019. Before coming to SUNY Geneseo, she worked for the University of Rochester as an academic advisor for many multidisciplinary programs. She also spent several years on staff at Binghamton University Libraries.
Heather earned MS in Educational Administration with a focus in Student Affairs Administration and Academic and Career Advising from the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester. Her BS in Business Administration with a second major in Spanish from SUNY Geneseo.
Heather is excited to return to her alma mater to help students build strategies for effective career planning throughout their time at Geneseo and beyond.
Career Advisor for the School of Business
Mary brings years of experience supporting business students and administration in her previous roles as a teacher, Director of Admissions, and Human Resource Manager. She holds an MS in Business Education (Nazareth College) and an undergraduate degree in Economics (John Carroll University). Mary thoroughly enjoys connecting with students and is interested in the study of business, the changing economy, and connections to career development training and programs. In her spare time, she enjoys running, biking, and cheering on college sports teams. Administrative Assistant/ Internship Assistant
Michelle has worked in many different industries ranging from Health Services to Engineering/Drafting, and Business & Information. Her diverse career paths give Michelle the ability to empathize with individuals who continue to search for their niche in life.
Michelle earned a BBA in Technology Management from Alfred State College and is currently working towards a Master of Science in Communication, specializing in Public Relations, at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University.
Office Assistant 1
Angela is excited to be part of the Career Development team! She serves not only as of the receptionist but also has much interaction with assisting the students. Her Associates Degree in Human Services has contributed to her holding a wide variety of career choices from homeschooling three of her five children for thirteen years, to running a daycare for ten years, as well as working in several secretarial positions. Angela loves to spend time with her family, serve at her church, and performs liturgical dance.

Bukurie Huseinovic '20

Bukurie is a psychology major in her senior year. She is a member of club volleyball. When she isn’t on campus, you can probably find her at Wendy’s or the bowling alley. Bukurie plans to become a lawyer post-graduation.
Fun fact: Bukurie knows three languages: English, Yugoslavian, Albanian.
Nawang Sherpa '20

Nawang is a senior communication major. Outside of classes, he participates in Theta Chi and is president of the Himalayan Student Association. Nawang loves playing basketball and spending time with friends. In the future, he aspires to work in the travel industry.
Fun fact: Nawang climbed the tallest mountain in New York State: Mt. Marcy.
Tshering Sherpa '21

Tshering Sherpa is a junior majoring in Psychology and International relations. She is a Resident Assitant for International Student Experience (RAISE) at Wyoming Hall, Access Opportunity Program (AOP) Mentor, Vice-President of Himalayan Association Club (HSA). Tshering loves learning new languages, traveling, and learning about food and cultures.
Fun Fact: Tshering has never broken a bone in her life!! Fingers crossed!
Rebecca Williamson '21

Rebecca is a junior English creative writing and communication, double major. She is the Co-Campus Correspondent/Co-President of Her Campus at Geneseo and the Associate News Editor for The Lamron. Rebecca is also a member of Original Expressions (OGX). Rebecca hopes to work in editing once she graduates.
Fun Fact: Rebecca was in an all-girls barbershop quartet as the tenor.
Won Kim '21
Won is currently a junior majoring in Mathematics with an Economics minor. He is a member of Geneseo Crew Club. Won loves to cook and hang out with his friends during his free time. In the future, he plans on working as a Statistician.
Fun fact: Won served in the South Korean Air-force.
Mary-Margaret Dwyer '21
Mary-Margaret is a junior communication major. She is the Director of Public Relations for the Student Association, and she also works at the CIT HelpDesk! In her free time, Mary-Margaret loves to play soccer. In the future, she hopes to go into the field of Public Relations.
