This page provides a list of existing Transportation Resources and contact information SUNY Geneseo faculty can use to support off-campus curricular activities. While the Center for Integrative Learning does not arrange transportation for individual courses, we are happy to consult with faculty about their off-campus needs in order to develop an individualized applied learning experiences for all students across disciplines.
Vehicle Rental (Enterprise, Hertz, National)
Through a joint agreement with the Western States Contracting Alliance, the state has secured discounted, contract rates with Enterprise Rent a Car, National Car Rental and Hertz Rent a Car. Many departments currently use Enterprise in Geneseo (see link for map location). To use the State rate, you will need to inform the company of the state’s corporate number, available from the Travel Department at SUNY Geneseo.
Private Taxis (Turbo Taxi)
Several departments and programs make use of Turbo Taxi or other private providers for curricular off-campus travel. Turbo Taxi rates are $2/mile for a car, $3/mile for a van, with a $10 minimum. A trip to Dansville is about $25; to Mt. Morris about $15. A 14-person passenger van costs $50/hour.
Geneseo Van Fleet
Facilities Services maintains a small fleet of 12 passenger vans for short distance official State University of New York travel. Faculty must have completed a once-per-semester training session. 12 passenger vans are dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis. Facilities Services handles the maintenance, reservations, and recharge of College 12 passenger vans. 12 passenger vans can be reserved by calling Facilities Services Work Control Center at x5662, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or by completing a Vehicle Request Form and forwarding the form to the Work Control Center prior to the travel date. Rates are $15.00 per day plus a mileage rate of $.50 per mile.
Upstate Escapes Grant Program
The Upstate Escapes Grant Program features two types of grants - our Transportation Grant and a new grant for this year, a grant for Community-Based Service Learning and Volunteer trips. All trips must be open to all Geneseo students, you may apply once per semester, and maximum grant is $400; Transportation Program Proposal Forms should be submitted at least ONE MONTH prior to the date of your trip.
RTS Livingston (Regional Transit Service)
Coordinated by Parking and Transportation Services, the RTS Bus operates during the semester on a route that includes the SUNY Geneseo campus, Village of Geneseo, Express Shopper Service & Late Knight Service.
SUNY Geneseo Rideshare
There is now a Facebook group specific to our community on Geneseo Ride Board to facilitate rideshare options. This group was opened and is run by SUNY Geneseo students and has no affiliation with any Geneseo office. Parking and Transportation Services offers tips for ridesharing on their website.
