Surveillance testing requirements for students during the Spring 2022 semester.
Please also see information about the pre-arrival test requirement.
Testing Start Date
Testing will begin on Tuesday, February 1, on the second floor of Sturges Hall. If this is your first time participating in surveillance testing, please register yourself in the Upstate Medical app before you report for your first test.
|Vaccination Status||Testing Frequency|
|Unvaccinated - approved exemption||Weekly|
|Vaccinated - approved exemption from booster||Weekly|
|Vaccinated - not yet eligible for booster||Monthly until boosted|
|Vaccinated - with booster||Exempt from testing*|
*If you are fully boosted, you are not required to participate in surveillance testing, however you must upload proof of your boosted status. Until we receive the documentation, you will be required to test.
Recently had COVID? If you tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days, you are exempt from surveillance testing for 90 days from your positive test -- but you must upload evidence of the positive test result to your health portal.
If you are required to test weekly, you will need to test every week on either Tuesday OR Wednesday, anytime between 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. Just report to the second floor of Sturges Hall whenever is convenient for you during those hours -- you don't need to make an appointment first.
If you are required to test monthly, you will need to test once a month on either a Tuesday OR a Wednesday, anytime between 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. Just report to the second floor of Sturges Hall whenever is convenient for you during those hours -- you don't need to make an appointment first.
If you are a student teacher or graduate student, more information will be sent to you by email.
REMINDER: Booster Requirement for Students
Following SUNY guidelines, students are required to provide proof of booster or receive a college-approved medical or religious exemption. Students currently eligible to be boosted must provide evidence of receiving a booster by February 1, 2022. Students who become eligible after the first day of classes must provide proof of booster within 15 days of eligibility (please refer to the latest CDC guidance on booster eligibility). Documentation of the booster must be provided via the health portal.
Students who cannot obtain a booster before returning to campus may schedule an appointment at our on-campus booster clinic on January 31. Limited appointment slots are available.
Vaccinated students seeking an exemption from the booster requirement must apply by January 26, 2022.
SUNY Geneseo may decide to require more frequent surveillance testing of all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, upon consultation with the local health department in response to changes in community health and infection rates or if CDC, state, or SUNY guidance require such.
