October: Domestic Violence Awareness
"Shine the Light on Domestic Violence" aka Turn the State Purple
How can we work together to raise awareness of domestic violence? By “Shining a Light” on the subject and bringing it out of the darkness! “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence” is a campaign that connects communities across New York by turning the state purple during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The official "Wear Purple Day" 2018 is Thursday, October 18.
The SUNY Geneseo PREVENT coordinator also has a number of domestic violence awareness events planned for the month of October.
More information is available on the website of the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.
