In addition student teaching placements within a 50-mile radius of SUNY Geneseo, there are several student teaching opportunities; these placements are "Out-of-Area Placements." All Out-of-Area placements differ in the level of faculty support, experience provided to the teacher candidate, and the pre-placement preparation process. Out-of-Area placements require an additional application. At a minimum, the teacher candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or above and faculty recommendation.
There are a number of international student teaching opportunities available to SUNY Geneseo teacher candidates. Candidates interested in an international placement are expected to complete one placement in the local district (within 50-mile radius) and the second placement is completed internationally. Each placement opportunity varies in the level of faculty support, type of school, application requirements, number of candidates accepted, and semester the program is available, and pre-travel preparation process.
