COVID-19 Surveillance Testing for Students

All on-campus, off-campus, and commuter students must participate in COVID-19 surveillance testing.

All unvaccinated and partially vaccinated students are required to participate in weekly testing beginning Tuesday, September 7 or Wednesday, September 8

All vaccinated students are required to test on a monthly basis, starting in October.

Weekly Testing

Students who have an approved medical or religious exemption or are only partially vaccinated must test weekly. Please see the details below:

  • Choose a time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7 or Wednesday, September 8. 
  • The time and day of the week you choose will be your standing weekly appointment for the fall semester. 
  • If this is your first time participating in surveillance testing, you'll need to create a profile in the Upstate Medical app before your first appointment.

Note: If you are partially vaccinated, sign up for weekly testing and email pooledtesting@geneseo.edu indicating the number of weeks you will need to test, including two weeks after your second dose. 

To schedule your recurring test appointment:

  • Go to your health portal
  • Click "Check-In/Schedule an Appointment"
  • Click "Schedule an Appointment"
  • Select "COVID Testing," then click "Continue"
  • Select "NON-VACCINATED COVID TESTING," then click "Continue"
    • Select a time on either Tuesday or Wednesday for your standing appointment
    • Click "Continue"
    • Click "Confirm"

If you miss an appointment:

  • You will receive an email alert.
  • You will not be allowed access to campus services until you obtain a COVID-19 test off campus and submit the results. 
  • Student Health and Counseling will not supply tests. 

    Monthly Testing

    Vaccinated students will test monthly beginning in October.

    • You must first submit your proof of vaccine and receive approval from Health and Counseling.
    • Testing will be held weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in Sturges Hall.  You will sign up for recurring monthly appointments based on your last name. The time and day of the week will be your standing appointment for the semester. 
    • If this is your first time participating in surveillance testing, you'll need to create a profile in the Upstate Medical app before your first appointment.

    Last names A–D will test the first week of each month. 

    Last names E–L will test the second week of each month.

    Last names M–R will test the third week of each month. 

    Last names S–Z will test the fourth week of each month.

    To schedule your recurring test appointment:

    • Go to your health portal

    • Click "Schedule an Appointment"
    • Select "COVID Testing," then click "Continue"
    • Select "VACCINATED COVID TESTING," then click "Continue"
      • Click on the Calendar icon to select your designated week of the month as referenced above
      • Select a time on either Tuesday or Wednesday for your standing appointment
      • Click "Continue"
      • Click "Confirm"

    If you miss an appointment: 

    • You will receive an email alert.
    • You will not be allowed on campus until you obtain your own test outside of campus and submit the results. 
    • Student Health and Counseling will not supply tests.

    SUNY Geneseo may decide to require more frequent surveillance testing of all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, upon consultation with the local health department in response to changes in community health and infection rates or if CDC, state, or SUNY guidance require such.
