As the days leading to commencement fly by, my mind is racing with the things I want to accomplish before I walk across the stage and accept my diploma. Whether it's making sure to have one last Aunt Cookie's sub, thank a professor or paint the tree, these next few weeks will be jam packed crossing off my final Geneseo to-do list!

But one list item already checked off is officially ‘making my mark' on Geneseo through the Student Giving Challenge. At Geneseo, it has long been a tradition for the graduating class to give back to the College in the form of a senior gift. The Class of 2012 is no exception. Since September, I've been working with a team of my fellow seniors to inspire our classmates to give back to Geneseo before we graduate. In years past, the senior gift has helped to fund many projects including multi-media work stations in the library, on campus sculptures, seating areas in the union and most importantly, scholarship funds.

In Fall 2009, the senior class revitalized the senior gift program and launched the Make Your Mark! campaign placing emphasis on seniors donating to what matters most to them. Now in its third year, the Class of 2012 can donate to any department, club, team or organization that they feel had the greatest impact on their Geneseo experience. The Class of 2010 raised more than $5,000 that year with 40 percent of the senior class participating. That momentum continued throughout the following year and this year we are on our way to hitting our $5,000 goal again! Currently we have raised $3,200 and had 30 percent of our class participate!

This year, Make Your Mark! can have an even greater impact on campus life through The Geneseo Foundation Board of Director's student-giving challenge, which will match every dollar students donate once we reach our goal.

For students who haven't made their mark yet, there is still time! We are encouraging all senior to make a $10 donation to the area of their choice. The Student Giving Challenge will be at our table in the Union on April 23th and in front of the ISC on April 27th. If you can't make those dates, visit us in Erwin 23 or online at facebook.com/studentgivingchallenge!
