Lederer Gallery: Upcoming Exhibitions

2021 - 2022 Exhibitions

150th Anniversary

September 13, 2021 through May 17, 2022

The Bertha V.B. Lederer Gallery is pleased to host a virtual exhibition of alumni artwork by art majors and minors who studied in the art department as part of our 150th Anniversary celebration. The participating artists are Don Cicconi ’78, Jacqueline Cortese-Lanier ‘74, Susan Craig ’01, Jennifer Croson ’79, Emily Gibbons ’08, Alexis Hannah ’14, Brenna O’Toole ’06, and Andy Smith ’81. This exhibit provides evidence of the important role the art department and its faculty played in the academic lives of students and in their careers. Faculty instilled a desire for lifelong engagement in the arts. Some participants in this exhibit are arts professionals and that includes teaching along with their art practice. Others continue their art practice on a part-time basis, something most artists do. The range of materials and media used by the artists include photography, Smith, and Craig to pastel painting, O’Toole; from ceramics, Cortese-Lanier to watercolor Gibbons and Hannah, to found photographs and set constructions, Croson to handmade paper works, Cicconi. Along with the virtual exhibition hosted on Flickr there is a link to the YouTube interview with several of the artists. Thank you for celebrating our alumni and their wonderful work.
