Welcome to SUNY Geneseo Counseling Services, I am Dr. Jaime Castillo and have been a mental health practitioner for 15 years. As a student, this is a transformative moment in your life, and at SUNY Geneseo’s Counseling Center, we are here to support you along the way. My work as a therapist is grounded in both relational and cognitive behavioral therapies, with a splash of humor of course. In our time together we will focus on building our therapeutic relationship because that is the most important part and foundational to your growth. Together, we will identify areas of both strength and growth and develop goals that feel realistic, yet moderately challenging to obtain. I trained and performed long-form improvisational comedy in New York City and now find every opportunity to to integrate it into my clinical practice, classes, and workshops!

I am a first-generation American as my parents immigrated from Colombia and Cuba. It was difficult growing up in rural Pennsylvania as one of only two non-white kids in my grade. They were formative years that taught me compassion for others and how to just do exactly what I love.

When not at Geneseo, I enjoy cycling, triathlon training, being with my family, and supporting Arsenal Football Club.

I look forward to meeting you!
