Homecoming & Family Weekend FAQ & More

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Homecoming & Family Weekend?

This combined weekend offers a variety of programming for families and alumni alike. Many of the scheduled events are "geared" to welcome families to campus, so that they have the opportunity to experience Geneseo with their student. To this end, we encourage families and students to participate in a variety of academic, athletic and social events designed to give family members a taste of Geneseo.

Who attends Homecoming & Family Weekend?

We have designed the weekend to include events of interest for parents, siblings, grandparents, other family members and alumni. We also encourage undergraduate students to attend these events with their families.

What is the suggested attire for the weekend?

You will be walking around campus, so casual attire and comfortable shoes are suggested. We recommend that you dress in layers since temperatures in our buildings and outdoors may vary.

Do we need to register in advance / do you accept walk-ins?

Several Homecoming & Family Weekend events require pre-registration (see below):

  • Alumni & Family Shabbat Service
  • New Art on Old Vinyl
  • Breakfast with the President / Presidents Panel
  • Trip to Letchworth State Park / Guided Tour
  • Annual Genesee Valley (Chicken) Wing Festival - Discounted Tickets [pick-up tickets at Will Call Table at event (Center Street, Geneseo)]
  • Legacy Pinning Ceremony
  • Limelight Show: Midtown Men

If the event is not sold-out, a limited number of tickets may be available for some events. Please inquire at Weekend Headquarters.

Other events are free and open to public, walk-ins are welcome!

What is the cost to attend Homecoming & Family Weekend?

There is a fee for a few of the activities on the schedule in order to cover cost of food and/or materials. You need to register and pay for these sessions in advance; in most cases, you can pick-up your tickets at Weekend Headquarters.

Athletic contest tickets are also an additional cost, but will be purchased at the stadium the day of the event.
