Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) Faculty Satisfaction Survey

This year Geneseo, along with many of our sister SUNY institutions, are participating in the COACHE Faculty Satisfaction Survey. The COACHE survey, based out of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, is a job satisfaction survey for faculty.  Geneseo participated in the COACHE Faculty Survey in 2012; comparing the two administrations of the survey will help us understand how the professoriate has evolved at Geneseo.

What kind of questions are on the COACHE survey?

The survey asks questions based on the nature of work that is completed, tenure and promotion, interdisciplinary work, personal and family policies, health/retirement benefits, facilities and work resources, collaboration, mentoring, leadership, appreciation and recognition, retention and negotiations and general questions about specific departments.

How long will the COACHE survey take to complete?

The COACHE survey takes approximately 25 minutes to complete.

Who is invited to take the COACHE survey?

The COACHE survey will be sent to all full-time faculty at SUNY Geneseo.

Is the COACHE survey confidential?

The COACHE survey is administered off-site. The results will be sent back to SUNY Geneseo in unit record form, however all identifying information (name and email address) will be removed. The data will be received by the institutional research office here at SUNY Geneseo, where further analysis will be performed.

Has SUNY Geneseo completed the COACHE survey before?

The COACHE survey was completed by full-time faculty at SUNY Geneseo in 2012. If you have taken this survey in the past, we still urge you to complete the survey again as the environment could have changed since the last iteration of the survey.

When will the COACHE Survey be available?

The COACHE survey will be sent via email the week of 13 February, 2017. All survey links will be inactive after April 7th, 2017.
