Vishal has found that, although the academics at Geneseo are very demanding, the university's small class sizes have stimulated a more personal and comfortable academic experience. Vishal has grown to really enjoy the challenges that Geneseo has presented him, and finds himself even more motivated to succeed. Vishal emphasizes that, although the academics are rigorous, the system at Geneseo allows for students to become active in other aspects of college life and to experience personal growth, as well.
The faculty at Geneseo immediately provided Vishal with a sense of welcome. He has discovered that the professors are easy to relate to and are looking to guide you through your academic experience at Geneseo. They are caring toward both their international students as well as their American students and strongly encourage student-professor communication.
Vishal has become an active member in the residence life at Geneseo. He has adopted a leadership role as one of the Resident Advisors on campus. Each residence halls acts as a "small community", which makes it easy for students from different backgrounds to form friendships with each other.
Vishal especially enjoys the diversity on campus, both culturally and between personalities. He also loves the size and appearance of the campus. The small size of the university makes it easy for students to join a group that meets their interest, he says. He stresses that the college life is as much about academics as it is about experiencing personal growth and enjoying the university outside of the classroom.
"Attending SUNY Geneseo and being in a new country has still allowed me to enjoy my culture while also experiencing and becoming integrated into a different culture."
