Visitor Policy Information

 

The following services are available during our regular hours of operation:

Physical Collections -  ALL COLLECTIONS ARE AVAILABLE!

Genesee Valley Historical Collection

Materials from the Genesee Valley Historical Collection are available for circulation.

  • Users request materials using GLOCAT by clicking on the “Pick Up at Fraser” button which is located in the detailed record.
  • Items are retrieved from Fraser 210 and made available for check-out at the Service Desk.
  • Users will receive an automated email with the item(s) are available.

College Archives, Rare Books “X” Collection, Wadsworth, and Schmidt

Materials from these collections are in-library use only. Interested researchers should contact Liz Argentieri, Special Collections Librarian, to coordinate access to materials and use them within the Library by doing one of the following:

  • Email Liz Argentieri at argente@geneseo.edu
  • Visit Liz's office in Fraser 213
  • From the catalog record for the item(s) of interest, click on the “Request Access at Fraser Hall Library” button

Print Books, DVDs, and CDS

These materials are housed in Fraser 210 and Schrader Hall. Users can request these items using the “Pick Up at Fraser” button in the detailed record of GLOCAT. Access Services staff will retrieve the items and users will receive an automated email when the item(s) are available for check-out at the Service Desk.

TERC

TERC is located in Fraser Hall Library. Users can browse the collection and check-out materials at the Service Desk. TERC materials circulate for 30 days. Visit our Library Policies page for additional information.


Notes:

  • If a user cannot see the buttons in GLOCAT, the user may need to login to GLOCAT.
  • If users have any questions about which materials they requested, they can sign into their GLOCAT account and see their list of requests (see image below):

Our selection of TI-83s, TI-84s, TI-89s, and scientific calculators are available for checkout.

Course Reserves

Information Delivery Service (IDS)

Service Desk at Fraser Hall Library Room 203Articles and other electronic material ordered through IDS will be delivered directly to your email.

Physical items requested from other libraries via IDS are available for pickup.

 

Item Returns
 
Book drop outside of Fraser Hall LibraryThe library's book drop is outside Fraser Hall, and you may drop off books at any time.
  • If the book drop is full, please do not leave books around or on top of the book drop. Please contact Dan Ross (rossd@geneseo.edu; 585-245-5665) so it can be emptied.
  • All books returned via the book drop will be quarantined for 72 hours before they are processed, so please allow several days for your library accounts to reflect any changes.
  • The book drop is for library materials only. Items rented from the Geneseo Bookstore should not be returned to our book drop.
  • For patrons away from Geneseo, please refer to this list of SUNY libraries accepting returns on behalf of other SUNY campuses.
    • We advise that you contact the library you intend to return your items to directly to ensure that the library is actively accepting returns.

Library Instruction

Librarians are available to provide library-centered research skills instruction to your classes that aligns with the modality of your course. To request instruction, please fill out an Instruction Request Form

The library also offers two asynchronous self-enroll tutorials. The Plagiarism Tutorial guides students through a discussion of plagiarism and strategies for preventing it. The Library Research Skills Tutorial will expose students to foundational concepts regarding using an academic library. Learn more by visiting our Library Tutorials & Courses page. 

Printing, Computer mini-lab, and JAWS Accessibility workstation

Printers are available for use in Fraser Hall Library. 
Windows and Mac computers are available for use.
Fraser Hall Library has an Accessibility workstation with JAWS (Job Access With Speech) screen reader software installed.

Research Help Services

In-person drop-in assistance: Stop by Fraser Hall Library 203A to receive in-person assistance from a librarian. Librarians are available Monday-Thursday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Fridays from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Chat with a librarian: The library's chat service is also available for asking librarians your questions. The chat service is available Monday-Thursday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Fridays from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Click on the green OWL Icon on the library website to use chat.

Research Consultations: You may meet 1:1 with a librarian for in-depth research help, which may include identifying topics, locating sources, formatting citations, and more. You may make an appointment on this page: https://www.geneseo.edu/library/researchconsultations. Appointments may take place via Zoom or in-person, depending on your preference.

The 1871 Café is located in Fraser Hall, and offers the convenience of on-the-go coffee, snacks and beverages.  The Café hours are not identical to the Library Hours. Please visit the link below for more information.
