Programs and activities to help new SUNY Geneseo students learn about the College and its programs, make new friends, and get involved.
The Department of Residence Life offers four Summer Experience programs for incoming and returning students. Specific program availability may vary by year.
SUNY Geneseo provides junior and senior high school students and accepted incoming Geneseo students the opportunity to take college-level courses taught by distinguished faculty over the summer. Earn college credits by immersing yourself in a course that engages and prepares you for post-secondary education.

New Student Convocation and First Knight
New Student Convocation & First Knight marks the official start of the academic year at Geneseo. Faculty and staff attend the event in academic regalia and welcome new students into the Geneseo community as they begin their academic career at Geneseo. This is an important part of the first-year experience. Convocation leads into First Knight, a lively celebration on the College Green! Join us for fun, food, music and more!
Orientation and Weeks of Welcome
Orientation and Weeks of Welcome (WOW) is a great way for new students to get involved and become part of the Geneseo experience. The activities offered (including our annual First Year Olympics) help to increase personal connections with other students, faculty and staff, and promote a sense of belonging.
Study Abroad Fair
Interested in studying abroad? Looking for volunteer opportunities? Come learn about all of the international opportunities you can take advantage of through SUNY Geneseo at the annual Study Abroad Fair (fair dates vary, see the Study Abroad website and the campus events calendar for more information).
Additionally, representatives from college and community organizations will be present to recruit volunteers and talk about their programs and services.
Knights First Day of Service
Knights First Day of Service is a program designed for new transfer and first-year students who will begin their studies at Geneseo in the fall. Knights First Day of Service is a volunteer effort that gives you the opportunity to give back to Geneseo and the surrounding community while meeting and working with other new students.
Students spend a Saturday morning in September at locations around Livingston County, helping people or programs in need--it could be painting a barn, cleaning up a trail in Letchworth State Park, serving a senior citizen, or organizing books at the library. Student Organization Expo
Student Organization Expo offers both new and returning students a "one-stop shopping" experience to get involved on campus. With more than 200 recognized clubs and organizations, this is one event you will not want to miss! Dates vary, see the Student Life website and the campus events calendar for more information.

Geneseo Late Knight (GLK)
Geneseo Late Knight is regularly scheduled, quality late-night entertainment during Thursday Evenings and the prime social hours of 10pm-2am every Friday and Saturday night while classes are in session. GLK provides opportunities for students to have fun, gain unique and exciting experiences in programming, leadership development, and responsible social interaction.
Late Knight offers a variety of programs such as arts and crafts, live entertainment, recreational sports, movies, dances, and many other social events catering to the interests of a diverse student population. You can check out the calendar of events to see what's coming up.
Family Weekend provides a chance for parents to visit students for a fun-filled weekend on the Geneseo campus. This is a great time for families to experience college through their student's eyes, and for students to show their loved ones why they love Geneseo.
GOLD (Geneseo Opportunities for Leadership Development)
The GOLD program seeks to prepare students for leadership roles and responsibilities in service to the College and the global community.
Our mission is accomplished through education, development, and training of students in an extensive series of personal development programs, institutes, leadership certificates, service learning, volunteer work and active engagement in college and community life. MidKnight Breakfast is a fall semester tradition! Celebrate the end of your first semester by having faculty and staff cook and serve you breakfast. Organized by the first-year class officers, MidKnight Breakfast promises to be a night of relaxation, fun, and a chance to enjoy the company of your friends! Now in it's nineteenth year, MidKnight Breakfast will take place in December at Food Studio North in Letchworth dining hall.
