GENESEO, N.Y. – Deborah Suzzane of Brownsville, Texas, has been named Director of Institutional Research for SUNY Geneseo.

Suzzane previously served as director of institutional research and planning at The Partnership of The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, where she was responsible for creating an Office of Institutional Research.

Suzzane earned her master’s degree in psychology from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn., and she received her Ph.D. at the University of North Dakota in teaching and learning with a concentration in methodology of assessment and evaluation. She has conducted research and presented papers on topics related to learning outcomes assessment, student learning, and institutional effectiveness, and she has served on important campus-wide committees such as the Assessment Committee, the University Council, the Strategic Planning Committee, and the Dean’s Council.

Suzzane has made numerous presentations on assessment and institutional effectiveness during her career. She has also generated numerous manuscripts both published and unpublished on instructional assessment, assessment outcomes, and institutional research and planning. At The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, she oversaw the development of a website designed for campus stakeholders and the public, to increase the accessibility of results obtained from evaluative research carried out by the institutional research office.

In 2001, Suzzane developed a workbook designed to help support staff in their collection and reporting of data and information, utilized to report institutional accountability based on measurement of performance.

She began work at the college on July 14.
