GENESEO, N.Y. -- SUNY Geneseo is ranked third for out-of-state students and 20th for in-state students in Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's 2014 list of best values among the nation's public four-year colleges. The rankings recognize four-year schools that combine outstanding education with economic value.
The annual list of the top 100 schools is available in Kiplinger's February 2014 issue and online.
“Geneseo’s recognition in rankings such as this continues to corroborate the high quality undergraduate education Geneseo provides at an incredibly reasonable cost,” said Bill Caren, associate vice president for enrollment services at Geneseo. “Our students have consistent praise for the learning and student life environment here, which together guides them to successful careers and lives.”
Geneseo's current in-state tuition is $5,870 per year with total costs of about $18,670. For out-of-state students, the figures rise to $15,320 and $28,120, respectively.
“SUNY is proud to once again see so many of its campuses ranked favorably by Kiplinger’s Magazine for the top educational value they offer students in New York and around the globe,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “Congratulations to Geneseo on this much-deserved recognition, which is a reflection of our commitments to access, quality, and affordability.”
Kiplinger’s assesses quality according to a number of measurable standards, including the admissions rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include low tuition, abundant financial aid and low average debt at graduation.
