Transfer Student Orientation and Registration

Transfer Student Checklist

For 2020, Geneseo First Year and Transfer Student Orientation is beginning virtually over the summer and will culminate in August in the days prior to the beginning of the semester. Watch your email and stay tuned. It is our strong desire and intention that face-to-face instruction and campus activities will resume at Geneseo in August. Any decision on moving forward, however, will be made in the interest of our highest priorities -- the health and safety of our community.

Geneseo also has campus housing options just for transfer students who want to live with other transfer students. They are designated floors of residence halls with resident assistants specifically trained to help transfer students navigate the college.

Haven't applied to Geneseo yet? Visit the transfer student application page for more information.

Please email with any questions.

At Orientation, Students Will:

  • Meet other Geneseo students, faculty, and staff.
  • Obtain your student ID.
  • Begin building connections with other transfer students.
  • Learn important details and expectations from your academic departments.
  • Understand resources available to students as well as involvement opportunities.

*New transfer students will be charged the Orientation/New Student fee of $75 (placed on student bill). The fee is used to offset expenses associated with the College's course registration, orientation, and all programmatic activities throughout their first year. Students who do not attend summer orientation are still assessed the fee.

Family Orientation

The more you understand about the college experience, the more helpful you will be to your student during their transition. A separate program has been designed for parents and family members. Because of the recent move of Orientation to the fall, please stand by for more details.

Family members can expect to gain an increased familiarity with campus life at Geneseo and be introduced to some of the faculty, staff, and students who teach, advise, and guide students at Geneseo. Information about residence life, campus safety and security, academic support services, student health care, community expectations, and tips on how to support students during their (and your) transition to college will also be provided at Family Orientation.
