Reserving Your Space

Before you make your reservation for Transfer Student Orientation, be sure you....

1. have paid your college deposit to Geneseo.

2. have your Geneseo username and password.

The transfer orientation fee of $75 includes materials, programs, advising and lunch. Summer orientation reservations are due June 12, 2015.

You will be asked to indicate your preference of transfer dates. Attendance at each session is limited so you are encouraged to register early.  

Please note that advisors for certain majors may only be in attendance on one of the two days. 

  • If you are majoring in Biology, Business, Communication, Education, English, History, Math or Psychology, you may attend either Transfer Session A or Session B.
  • If you are majoring in Art, Art History, Music, Theater, Chemistry, BioChemistry,Geography, Political Science, or International Relations, please choose Transfer Session A.
  • If you are majoring in Foreign Languages, Geology, Philosophy, Physics, Sociology, Anthropology, or if you are undeclared, please choose Transfer Session B.

Note: If you cannot attend orientation on the day that is best for your major, we will try to assign an advisor in a related field for the date you can attend.  

Because transfer orientation begins early in the morning, some students may choose to arrive the evening before. Those signing up for “Early Arrival” will be assigned a room in a residence hall.  Early arrivals should plan to arrive to campus between 5pm-10pm.  The fee for early arrival is $10 per student.

If you do not attend orientation, your class schedule will be assigned by the Dean of the College after all students who attend orientation have been registered.

Financial Needs

Students with demonstrated financial need (based on your FAFSA) should call the Orientation Office at 585-245-5852 to discuss alternative funding for Orientation.

SUNY Geneseo would like to ensure that no individual with a disability is excluded, denied access, or otherwise treated differently from any other individual attending Orientation.

Please contact us about accommodations at your earliest convenience, but no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of your orientation session, to give us sufficient time to make appropriate arrangements.  Contact the Orientation Office at or 585-245-5852.


Refund Policy 

If you pay your orientation fee(s) and then decide to withdraw from or delay attendance at Geneseo, notify the Admissions Office immediately. If you request a 100% refund for your orientation fee(s), after June 1, a 10% handling fee will be deducted from your refund.  To request a refund, please fill out the Refund Request Form.
