Applications for summer 2018 are closed.  We hope to be repeating in 2019.  Look for updates in November or December.

Supporting Undergraduate Research at Geneseo (SURGE) is a program run by the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the State University of New York at Geneseo, a nationally recognized center of excellence in physics education.

SURGE provides an exciting ten-week research experience to a cohort of undergraduates each year. Students are integrated into small teams of undergraduate researchers working closely with a faculty mentor, who nurtures their experimental, analytical, and communication skills. Students also experience physics in action by visiting regional facilities, where they interact with practicing physicists and learn how physics research addresses societally relevant problems.

After the summer experience, an online mentoring community continues to provide support for SURGE students as they advance in their physics degrees and careers.
