Information for Prospective PreMed/PreHealth Students
SUNY Geneseo is a liberal arts college dedicated to preparing students for future study in all types of post-graduate programs, including – but not limited to – medical school. As a highly-selective public, liberal arts college, Geneseo students are sought by many of the finest post-graduate institutions in the nation. For Geneseo medical school applicants that have a GPA of 3.7 and 511 or greater on the MCAT (the national averges for acceptance to medical school), our acceptance rate was 92%.

While many Geneseo PreMed/PreHealth students choose to major in Biology, it is not a requirement. Students are encouraged to select a major of study that is consistent with their interests. PreMed/PreHealth students typically major in: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Psychology, Neuroscience (students apply to this major after their first year at Geneseo), and Sociology. By completing the prerequisite courses for professional school, students are building a rigorous science-based foundation that will prepare them for professional and graduate schools.

These sessions are ideal for students interested in the PreMed/PreHealth tracks. The sessions are offered most Fridays during the fall and spring semesters.
