Reminder of Title IX Reporting and Prevention Education Resources

July 7, 2020

During the past week, stories of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, have been shared on social media by survivors within our Geneseo community. The ability to tell one’s own story can be liberating and empowering; read by others, it also has the immense potential to raise awareness and foster empathy. To some, the presence of stories like this raises concern and fear about the overall climate and prevalence of these incidents.

We want to stress that sexual misconduct will not be tolerated at Geneseo. We are committed to promoting a safe environment for everyone to live, study, and work by providing comprehensive prevention programming for both students and employees and by thoroughly investigating all reported instances of sexual misconduct and interpersonal violence.

Geneseo strives to support all individuals within our campus community who have experienced sexual misconduct. If you are among them, please contact our Title IX Office to disclose (identify oneself as someone who has experienced sexual misconduct at some point in their life to receive support resources) or report (identify oneself as someone who has experienced sexual misconduct by someone at Geneseo to receive support resources and officially request an investigation). This outreach can be made to or to interim Title IX Coordinator robbie routenberg at To request a prevention education session for your organization or department, email PREVENT Coordinator Carrie Johnson (
