Celia Easton has been Dean of Residential Living at SUNY Geneseo since 2007. She is also a Professor of English, and has been a member of the English faculty since 1984. Her current scholarly work on Jane Austen draws her surprisingly close to her “day job” in Student & Campus Life, since Jane Austen has--with humor and satire--examined the desires, cruelties, foibles, and successes of humanity for over 200 years.
Sarah Frank received her B.S. in Psychology from UB and her M.S. in Higher Ed and Student Affairs from Buffalo State.She joined Student Life in Spring 2012 as Assistant Director. Her focus is on student/staff development and selection initiatives. Sarah serves as the senior resource to the Resident Assistant staff and supervises several Area Coordinators. Sarah also serves the College as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Commission, WOW Committee, First Knight Committee, Geneseo Global Advisory Committee, and a Senator for the College Senate. Sarah will support the implementation of Senior Class events as a co-advisor and Green Dot bystander intervention program as a trainer.
Susan Palmer has been Technical Support Associate for Student & Campus Life since 2009. She spent 11 years with the Eastman Kodak Company, where she gained her love for technology. Susan’s interest in academia was fostered during her time at the University of Rochester. As the Technical Support Associate, Susan assists departments/individuals with web development, forms creation/implementation. Her primary role is to ensure that all on campus residents have access to their residence halls during the year and during summer activities. In 2015, Susan became the Student Life Apartment Manager facilitating the renting of on campus apartments to faculty, staff and guests.
Meg Reitz has been a Faculty member in Geological Sciences department since 2013. She joined the Student Life staff as the Coordinator for Residential Education in Fall 2014 and continues as an Adjunct Professor and Assistant Coach for the Field Hockey Team. She works to develop the Residential Communities by connecting faculty to the residence halls, educating and supervising the Area Coordinators, and by implementing experiential learning opportunities in the co-curricular. She serves as a Co-Chair of the President’s Commission on Sustainability, a member of the Mental Health Task Force, the Voter Engagement Task Force, and the SUNY Applied Learning Working Group, and is an advisor to the Sustainability Coordinators.
Elliot Zenilman is the Interim Assistant Director of Student Life. Elliot joined the Student Life Department in 2011 as Residence Director in Allegany Hall after completing his BA in History from Binghamton University in 2009 and his MS in Higher Education from the University of Rochester in 2011. He was promoted to Area Coordinator in 2013 and took on the role of Assistant Director in 2015. He is responsible for housing selection and placement, facilities issues, and general residential concerns.
Neal Brooks is the Area Coordinator for Nassau and Suffolk Halls in Student Life. Neal joined the Student Life Department in 2011 as Residence Director. Neal received a B.S in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications in addition to his M.A. in Communication Studies at SUNY Brockport. In 2015, Neal was promoted to Area Coordinator of Nassau and Suffolk Halls. Both halls include suite style housing with Freshmen living in Suffolk hall and a largely Freshmen and Transfer population in Nassau Hall. In addition to his work in Student Life, Neal advises Alpha Phi Omega (APO) and works within the Nassau Hall Arts community to create opportunities within the arts for the campus community.
Bianca joined the Department of Student Life in August 2013 as a Residence Director for Niagara Hall, an all freshmen residence. Bianca received a B.A in Sociology and Inclusive Education from Nazareth College of Rochester. She went on to graduate with a M.Ed in Higher Education Administration from the University of Buffalo in 2013. In 2015, Bianca was promoted to Area Coordinator and currently supervises an additional all freshmen residence, Wayne Hall. She also serves as the advisor to a local sorority, Sisters Making A Change (SMAC) and as a liaison to the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services.
Ray joined the Department of Student Life in August 2012. As an Area Coordinator, Ray supports Onondaga Hall’s First Year student population. He received his M.Ed. in Higher Education, with a concentration in Student Affairs in 2012 from the University at Buffalo and is a proud Geneseo alum, receiving his B.A. in Sociology in 2010. His professional interests include first year students, staff training & development, and multicultural issues, specifically in LGBTQ issues. Ray works closely with the department’s Staff Training & Development Committee and is the Co-Chair of the college’s LGBTQ Student Services Working Group.
Alexis Grafakos is currently the Area Coordinator of Allegany Hall & Wyoming Hall. She joined the Office of Student Life at SUNY Geneseo in 2013 and was previously the Residence Director for Genesee Hall. She received a B.A. in Multicultural English Literature from SUNY College at Old Westbury and then an M.A. in Higher Education & Student Affairs at New York University. Alexis also serves as the Advisor for Phi Lambda Chi sorority and the Blue Knights Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH).
Kathryn Geen joined the Student Life professional staff team in August of 2015, after serving the Student Life department for two years as a Resident Assistant during her undergraduate career. She is now the Graduate Area Coordinator of Livingston Hall. She graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.A. in History and B.S. Ed. in Adolescent Education (gr. 7-12) from Geneseo last spring, and is currently pursuing a M.S. Ed in Reading and Literacy (gr. Birth-12).
Sawyer received a B.A. in English Literature with an Initial Certification in Adolescent Education, as well as an M.S.Ed. in Reading and Literacy from SUNY Geneseo. She started her work in Student Life as an undergraduate Resident Assistant in 2009 and continued serving the department as the Residence Director of Erie Hall. She is currently the Area Coordinator of Genesee Hall and EcoHouse.
Katie Newcomb joined the Student Life staff at SUNY Geneseo in 2014, and serves as an Area Coordinator for Steuben and Jones Hall. Katie received her B.M. from Houghton College in Music Education and an M.M. from SUNY Potsdam where she served as a Hall Director. In 2014, Katie received an M.A. in Higher Education from Stony Brook University. Katie currently advises the Geneseo Inter-Residence Council (IRC).
Courtney L. Owen is the current Graduate Area Coordinator of Erie Hall. She holds a B.S.Ed. in Childhood Education (Gr. 1-6) and Special Education as well as a B.A. in History from Geneseo. She joined the Student Life Professional Staff following her graduation from Geneseo in Spring 2015. She is currently enrolled in the Geneseo graduate program for her M.S.Ed in Literacy & Reading (B-12). Courtney also interns in the Office of Service Disabilities on campus.
Jacob W. Sherry is the Area Coordinator for Monroe Hall and Saratoga Terrace. As part of this role, he also serves as a coordinator for the Tesla House Living-Learning Community and the Life After Geneseo program series. Jacob joined Student Life at SUNY Geneseo in 2013 and has been with the department for three years. Originally from Missouri, Jacob received his BS in Psychology at the Missouri University of Science and Technology and his MS in College Student Personnel Services at Arkansas State University. Jacob also serves as an active board member of the College Student Personnel Association of New York State, Inc. (CSPA-NYS), a regional professional organization for Student Affairs.
Noah Wilson joined the Student Life Department in 2014 where he has continued to serve as the Area Coordinator for Ontario Hall and Writers House. Noah received both his BS in Literature and Inclusive Adolescent Education (Gr. 7-12) and his MA in Literature from SUNY Brockport where he served as a Graduate Hall Director. Noah also serves as the advisor for Geneseo’s Delta Kappa Tau Fraternity and It’s On Us Geneseo in addition to serving on the Interpersonal Violence Prevention Advisory Committee. He is also an active member of the College Student Personnel Association of NYS (CSPA-NYS), serving on the Executive Board.
