Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

English Club at Geneseo

The purpose of English Club is to give students the opportunity to meet others in their field of study with common interests, and to form a supportive community centered around those interests. The Club will also be a vehicle for students to voice their opinions, complaints, and suggestions to the English Department concerning Department policies, objectives, and curriculum. The Club will also offer academic activities to enhance the students’ studies and provide an outlet for their creative abilities.

Student Coalition for Migrant Workers

By holding weekly meetings, hosting outreach events, and opening up the dialogue over immigration issues on campus, the goal of this club is to expose students to these issues which will hopefully lead them to become responsible citizens taking on an active role in discussion and community outreach programs. As a club, we have three pillars that will help us execute the mission of the organization: \n\n1) Cultural and community engagement \n2) Social justice and advocacy \n3) Language exchange program \n\nWe believe the best way to serve this community is to have a comprehensive framework in which students are encouraged to utilize their unique skills such as educational and linguistic skills and apply them in these areas best fit for serving the immigrant community.

Films Club

There are three parts to our club's main purpose. The first part is to introduce students to new types of film genres, styles of directing, and film companies. The second part is to bring together students with an interest in watching films. The third part is to analyze the historical background surrounding each film. The historical background includes: the company that made it, history of the director and actors, various film techniques used in the movie, and its impact on the country it was created in. The films we will be watching will range time period wise from the early 1900s to the present. Also the films will vary on what country produced them. The main events our organization will have are officer meetings and film screenings. Officer meetings will discuss the various films we will show and check on how the club is doing. Film screenings will show a movie and have the president or vice-president provide the movie's historical background.

Fencing Club of SUNY Geneseo

Our goal is to teach everyone who joins our club how to fence and have them be able to duel each other without help from the officers. We will begin with the fundamental rules of foil, and tournaments will be held when the members feel confident enough to fence each other.
