Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

Mock Trial

Mock Trial is a student run club where we take the facts of a fictional court case and present arguments in front of a panel of judges and jurors in a competitive format against other schools. Students take on roles of attorneys and witnesses to simulate a realistic courtroom experience. Members of Mock Trial learn trial procedure, objections, how to think on their feet, public speaking, and even acting skills! We aim to educate the next generation of legal professionals and general global citizens, and we have fun doing it!

The Speaking Project

We have weekly meetings where one individual will give a major speech/presentation and be evaluated by a peer. We then discuss the evaluation in order to point out things the speaker did well, whether the answered the prompt, and what are some things they could work on. We aim to have a safe and comfortable environment where the speaker has the opportunity to grow and prosper in public speaking. No individual is forced to do a major speech if they do not want to. They are more than welcome to just come sit and listen to the advise that is given.

Anime Club of Geneseo

Gather people to watch anime series and movies or other actives on Fridays. Talk about anime with like minded people.

Club Softball

Club Softball at Geneseo is an informal way to play and practice softball, whether it is for fun, for exercise, or competitively! We have members of all different skill levels and experience levels; whether you have been playing your entire life or you are looking to try something new, you’re totally welcome to join! We have both a game team and a practice team, and our game team (roster maximum of 25) is part of the National Club Softball Organization!

Programming and Data Science Club

The Programming and Data Science Club of SUNY Geneseo offers a fun and educational environment for students and community members alike to pursue their interests in computer science, data science, and technology. Our club also functions as a resource for students that need help learning any of the programming languages that they'll find in their classes at Geneseo. As a club, we've traveled to different computing/data competitions across New York and done very well. We've received awards and praise from HackUpstate, Google, and the American Statistical Association at their DataFest competition. Some of the club's goals include spreading the wealth of computing knowledge to the Geneseo community, continuing to do well at these regional competitions, and getting more community members interested in the exciting and useful world of computer and data science.

Knightline Dance Team

Knightline is the official dance team at SUNY Geneseo. We perform fast paced routines that incorporate a kickline at Men's and Women's home basketball, hockey, and soccer games. We also perform at various events on campus such as Relay for Life. We are well networked with other campus organizations and are a close knit group that have formed an unbreakable bond. Routines are choreographed by the team captains and the team is advised by Jody DeLoria, an adjunct professor in the dance department. We hold auditions every fall semester.

Art Club

Art Club aims to create a safe and creative environment where students can express themselves freely. All levels of artistic ability are welcome to join. We will have bi-weekly meetings with group projects, or you can use the space to complete existing art projects as well.

Ski Racing Team

To allow students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to participate in a competitive ski environment. Competitive skiing provides a challenging and lifelong experience. This organization will be a positive representative of the college on local, state, and national levels. We compete against other schools at different mountains across the state! It's a ton of fun and you will make lots of new friends. We stay at hotels when we race at farther away mountains, and get up early to race all day! The ski team is comprised of a girls and boys team (we practice together). Everyone races individually twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday. Typically slalom races and Giant Slalom are on different days.

Sapphire Winterguard at Geneseo

The purpose of this organization is to provide an environment where students can learn flag spinning, rifle spinning, and basic dance techniques, no matter their level of experience. The ultimate goal of the organization is to represent Geneseo in competition in the North East Color Guard Circuit. The organization will also be available for special performance at sporting events and other campus activities to show school spirit and support.

Emmelodics

Emmelodics is a co-ed a capella group designed to promote increased participation in a cappella for a wider audience and to provide more individuals the opportunity to become involved in a cappella performance. It will provide preference to those who have no previous affiliations with any established a cappella groups to further support this purpose. Emmelodics also differentiates its style with the incorporation of multiple soloists in a single arrangement, a wider range of musical genres showcased in a given performance, and the potential for choreographed movements integrated into a routine. Its emphasis on group cohesiveness, flexibility in performance, and building vocal and blending abilities helps foster the “rich co-curricular environment” that the State University of New York at Geneseo strives to maintain as a recognized center of excellence and liberal arts institution.
