Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

Fishing Club

The mission of Fishing Club is to bring the opportunity of fishing to those that attend SUNY Geneseo. The club will offer opportunities to interested students to get more information on where and how to fish, to earn or build on the hobby of fishing, and provide a welcoming environment to discuss fishing. The club will hold non-mandatory weekly meetings to get together and discuss recent fishing events and plan future events. These meeting will also allow members to meet friends and to catch up on recent fishing. The club will also do one event a semester to help the local watershed. These events could range from fundraising to volunteering. All proceeds will be donated to local conservation groups.

La Casa Hispánica

Our purpose is to educate Geneseo students on the not-so-mainstream cultures that speak the Spanish language. Mexico and Spain are wonderful places, but there is also much to know about many other Spanish-speaking regions with interesting traditions, lifestyles, and arts.

Circle K International

Our mission is to better the world and to foster a community of leaders who will continue to make a positive impact on the world throughout their lifetime. We participate in a variety of events such as the annual Kiwanis Caregiver Luncheon to thank caregivers in the area, the annual Amy's Walk and Theresa Walk, and the Kiwanis Halloween Parade on Main Street in Geneseo. We also have assisted in the maintenance of Oakwood Cemetery, collected donations for Comfort Cases, ran Bingo at a local Senior Living Center, participated in Adopt a Highway, and much more. We are always looking for new ways to get involved in the community and make the most of our free time.

Outing Club

The Geneseo Outing Club is an organization which consists of dozens of students who join the eboard for excursions to hike, climb, camp, and enjoy other activities. This organization seeks to educate individuals on how to safely enjoy outdoor activities and find recreation wherever people are.

MiNT Magazine

MiNT is a student-run magazine that publishes student written work and art in print as well as online. MiNT accepts and reviews submissions of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, opinion pieces and works of criticism created by the students of Geneseo. Our mission is to create a literary magazine for students, run by students. MiNT looks for submissions that highlight the voices of our diverse student body and express the different cultural, spiritual, and artistic backgrounds you can find on campus. We publish work that is engaging on both a personal and societal level. We are looking to be not just a literary voice, but a place where students can voice their opinions as well as their experiences.

History Club at Geneseo

We meet weekly and regularly discuss "This Day in History," as well as historical connections to current events. Additionally, we have recently incorporated more game & trivia nights, all historically themed (i.e. Jeopardy, Family Feud-style history games). This coming year, we plan on diversifying our events even more, taking trips, collaborating with professors, etc.

Hips 'n Harmony

The purpose of this organization is to provide all female identifying students of SUNY Geneseo with an outlet to express themselves through a student run vocal ensemble. Composed of many talented females, Hips ‘n Harmony acts as a dedicated philanthropical group which donates many of its proceeds to charity. Founded in 1997 by Maureen Mullaney and Mary Rose Bayer, Hips is a traveling group of passionate musicians that sings a broad variety of music in a wide array of venues.

Gajjda Bhangra

Gajjda Bhangra team’s purpose is to utilize Bhangra as a culture and a style of dance to promote and contribute to a diverse and multi-faceted community through on-campus workshops and performance, as well as represent Geneseo at regional Bhangra competitions and festivals. \n\nThis is in accordance with the college’s mission statement to promote diversity and community, as well as tradition, as the Bhangra team works to educate its members as to the history and culture of respect central to the style of dance and Punjabi culture. It provides an interactive learning experience. As one of the most diverse teams in the nation, it promotes Geneseo’s mission of Innovation, offering Geneseo students another facet to explore new perspectives and cultures and challenge themselves.

Shakti: South Asian Student Association

We want to spread South Asian culture to the students at SUNY Geneseo, and make them more aware of the countries, culture, customs, problems, and people of South Asia. At our weekly General Meetings we talk about festivals, diversity, political events, games, and such that take place in the countries of South Asia. Our members consist not only of students from South Asian countries, but also students who want to know more about the region, and want to be involved in our events. \n\nOur biggest events of the year include the Diwali Dinner that celebrates the Hindu festival of Diwali, ACE's Intercultural Dinner, and our dinner and show, Sangamam. At Sangamam, we celebrate South Asian culture through a traditional dinner and—staying true to Bollywood—a skit that includes many dance performances. Sangamam is a wonderful evening of color, music, dance, and festivities. \n\nShakti is part of the SUNY Geneseo Alliance for Community Enrichment (ACE) and is funded by the Student Association (SA).
