Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

College Democrats at Geneseo

The purpose of this organization is to discuss Democratic politics and current events, while helping to spread the values of the Democratic Party across the Geneseo campus and outside community. We believe in exposing students to local, state-wide, national, and international politics and encouraging calm, rational discussions. Our organization welcomes students from across the political spectrum, and we are proud to foster communication among students who disagree with one another. We also believe in encouraging broader student participation in politics, working either on our own to help spread the values of the Democratic Party or working with the College Republicans and Political Affairs Club to encourage general political participation.

Geneseo Men's Club Rugby

The Men’s Rugby team is devoted to learning, teaching, and playing the sport of Rugby. As players our goal is to perform at our highest level and represent ourselves and our organization. Also, we are devoted to being an asset to the community of Geneseo both on-campus and off-campus.

College Republicans

The Geneseo College Republican’s mission is to provide a community in which conservative ideals can be discussed, debated, and promoted on a local level and beyond. It aims to welcome any and all open to participating in this dialogue, regardless of their background, and it looks to provide for all of its members the opportunity to grow intellectually, to deepen their understandings of the political landscape, and to offer unique and valuable experiences available no where else.

Friends of Recreation, Conservation, and Environmental Stewardship

The FORCES program and name is defined by several of the elements below: \n\nFRIENDS \nStudents and community members seeking new and interesting experiences, with a willingness to help improve their local parks and historic sites \n\nRECREATION \nThis "force" contributes to patron education on different forms of and ways to recreate; improvement projects and maintenance that enhance hiking and sporting activities in NYS parks. It also reflects the philosophy that patrons who participate in recreational activities are more likely to appreciate and want to protect the environments where they take place. \n\nCONSERVATION \nAt FORCES we also focus our efforts on conserving and protecting the rich heritage and culture found in NYS historic sites and other unique areas. \n\nENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP \nIn addition, FORCES directly involves environmental projects and education that benefit the parks. Educational and environmental projects include invasive species management, plant and wildlife protection, water quality assessment and trail improvement. \nb. The purpose of the organization is consistent with SUNY Geneseo’s core values of service, community, integrity, innovation, diversity, academic excellence, and tradition.

Latinx Student Association

LSA strives to educate the Geneseo community on Latinx culture through our Hispanic Heritage Month event that we hold with GLK. We also hold dinners throughout the year to educate people about important events occurring in Latinx countries, educate people on our culture, and allow people to experience our foods. Two of our dinners are La Mezcla in the fall semester and Sabor Latino in the spring semester.

International Youth and Students for Social Equality

Young people, including students, face a dangerous future. The fraudulent economic “recovery” is worsening for the vast majority of the population. Imperialist war, even a nuclear World War III, looms around the corner. Climate change threatens the entire planet. These threats and others demonstrate that capitalism is a system in crisis, incapable of creating a decent future for youth, students, and workers everywhere. \n\nThe SUNY Geneseo chapter of the International Youth and Students for Social Equality seeks to mobilize students and young workers in the struggle for the only viable alternative to capitalism: socialism. The IYSSE is dedicated to the defense of democratic rights, opposition to war, and the arming of students, youth, and workers with a socialist perspective. To do so, we hold weekly meetings to engage students and workers and orient members toward the working class. \n\nAll interested people are welcome to attend meetings, regardless of major or enrollment status. Meetings include a political report on recent events given by an IYSSE member, highlighting relevant historical and theoretical issues. These reports and subsequent discussion are integral to our perspective for work on campus. Organizational matters, including planning events, are considered after discussion.

African Student Association

The purpose of this organization is: \n\nTo act as the official representative of the African student body in matters affecting them at SUNY Geneseo. \nTo cooperate with other regional and/or national African student bodies concerned with or engaged in activities promoting the welfare of the African continent. \nTo improve the quality of life of African Students at SUNY Geneseo by arranging social activities, other cultural and sporting events.
