Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

Green Environmental Organization

The Green Environmental Organization's mission is to promote environmentally-friendly practices on our campus, in our community, in our state and in our world. In doing this we will promote good health, biological diversity and the sustainability of the Earth and its people. We do this by cleaning up right here in Geneseo, educating the Geneseo community and connecting with bigger environmental campaigns across the US.

Pride Alliance

The Pride Alliance is a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students and their allies to find community, discuss the issues they face, and celebrate diversity. Our purpose is to unite SUNY Geneseo's LGBTQ+ community. Each weekly meeting centers around a different topic, giving members the opportunity to expand their knowledge. In addition to our regular weekly meetings, we have several annual events that draw hundreds of students each year. Second Chance Prom is a fall dance that invites everyone to dress how they want, bring who they want, and be who they want. Students who couldn't enjoy their high school proms due to prejudice and discrimination get a second chance here. In the spring, Pride and GLK host Drag Ball, a huge celebration of drag performance as an art form born from the LGBTQ+ community. This event includes both student and professional performers. Our other events include our recurring LGBTQ+? Fine By Me and Trans? Fine By Me panels, where students in attendance can ask panelists of specific identities about their experiences on campus. We also have a yearly cultural dinner, Pride Night, another celebration of LGBTQ+ culture.

Animal Lovers of Geneseo

The main goal of this organization is to promote safe, ethical practices and treatment towards animals in captivity through education and awareness. Future events include fundraising for local animal shelters and educational programs in junction with GLK.

Geneseo Campus Activities Board

It is the mission of Geneseo Campus Activities Board to expand artistic expression, build student connections, and provide fulfilling amusement to the Geneseo Campus. Geneseo Campus Activities Board was formed in 1968 in response to demand for more non-Greek activities on campus. As a standing committee of Student Association, GCAB receives an annual budget from the collection of mandatory student activity fees. The GCAB Chair serves on the Student Association Executive Committee as the Director of Student Programming.

Voices Uncovered

Voices Uncovered is dedicated to providing an encouraging and judgment-free creative platform for marginalized students to share their unique abilities and talents with their fellow Geneseo peers, faculty, and staff. This creative platform can range from student written scripts, performances, or showcases that enable students to highlight areas of concern and educate their fellow peers on issues that are important to them. Voices Uncovered will devote its time to process students’ experiences with micro-aggressions, stereotyping, and discriminatory discourse or actions. Members of the club will be encouraged to speak up about their experiences dealing with these issues. Voices Uncovered will further the conversation about marginalization and discrimination by actively challenging the status quo and collaborating with Geneseo student cultural groups. Geneseo is our home away from home and we see the value in fixing or drawing attention to areas of concern in this regard. In order to achieve this, Voices Uncovered will allot a space during our meetings for free-writes and open discourse. In this space, students can talk about recent events that have affected them on a personal or global level. We believe that any incident, no matter how miniscule it may seem, is worth discussing. Oftentimes, individuals who have experienced a form of discrimination or have been marginalized by their peers seek validation for their reactions and emotions. Additionally, Voices Uncovered will host group interviews focused on self-identity and marginalization that will serve as the foundation for the end of the semester performance geared towards highlighting these particular issues in an attempt to educate our Geneseo campus. Consenting individuals will also be published on our permanent online presence. Voices Uncovered is passionate about empowering our fellow peers to have their voices heard and inviting our community to listen.

Chess Club

Casual chess club devoted to furthering the game's presence on Geneseo's campus. We teach new players, and enjoy casual games with those of all skill levels.

Original Xpression

The OGX Dance Team’s purpose is to extend our love for dance to the Geneseo campus and community. Our intentions are to welcome students who don’t exactly fit in with modern and contemporary movements. We feel that the OGX Dance Team will offer another style of dance that will allow students not only from the urban areas of New York but including students of every culture to appreciate dance. The OGX Dance Team would like to perform at events hosted by Geneseo clubs such as talent shows, cultural dinners, Relay For Life, Geneseo Great Day. We host our own events and workshops throughout the school year. We partake in WOW and GLK programming. We also host a Spring Dance Showcase in which we portray our talents and host other Culture clubs or outside teams. We like to host activities in which we promote being active and traveling to nearby to spread our love for urban and cultural dancing.

Muslim Student Association

Our aim is to promote a sense of community among Muslim and non-Muslim students on campus, dispel common misconceptions and stereotypes of Islam, and present the Islamic culture, history, and thought to the community as a whole. This organization does not exist to enforce the practice of the religion but rather to provide a venue through which Geneseo students, Muslim and non-Muslim, may explore the religion.

International Relations Club

International Relations Club was created to promote and increase awareness of issues concerning International Relations as well as encourage more students’ involvement in these topics. We also wish to create a network of students majoring, minoring or with an interest in International Relations. In order to successfully fulfill the above goals, the IR club will undertake in regular meetings, semester interest meetings (1 Fall and 1 Spring) per yr, and trips to meet with alumni in cities such as Washington D.C and New York City. In alignment with a scholarly environment SUNY Geneseo’s chapter of International Relations will educate the community with current events specifically those related to international relations. In alignment with inclusivity SUNY Geneseo’s chapter of International Relations will work closely with any individual pursuant that they have an interest in the international community.
