Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

College Democrats

Outside of meetings, we work very closely with local, statewide, and national politicians to help them with their campaigns. We also have hosted many Geneseo Late Knight events on our own as well as in conjunction with several other politically oriented groups on campus. Members also have attended New York College Democrat conferences and conventions. Each year, members of the Geneseo College Democrats participate in a formal debate with the Geneseo College Republicans.

Gospel Choir at Geneseo

We are the only gospel musical group on campus! Our goal is to elevate and empower college students through ministry of gospel music on and off campus. As a Christian based group, we accept individuals from all backgrounds regardless of religious beliefs, musical experience, or lack thereof! We perform at Ghana gala, Kwanzaa, other cultural events and off campus invitationals.

Alpha Omega Pi

AOPi is a local sorority that was founded in 1985. We are an extremely tight-knit group that is very unique in our own ways. Each sister makes their own mark in AOPi as we are always trying to better ourselves as sisters. AOPi is a place of leadership and encourages girls to get involved and share their passions with the rest of the sorority through those positions of leadership. While we do have an annual philanthropic event, “Making Strides”, a breast cancer awareness walk in Rochester, we are always listening to our sister’s ideas about different organizations to support. We pride ourselves on our ability to lend a helping hand to any sister in need or to any charity our sisters are passionate about. We are located at 7 University and have one of the coolest houses on campus.

Young Children's Council

Our organization's mission is to help prepare future teachers and others pursuing a career working with children by connecting them with children in the community. We connect with children through events such as storytime and pen pals. This allows us to gain experience with the children we work with on field visits, while also giving back to the community. We aim to continue to grow and foster relationships between Geneseo students and students in the community through all of our events.

Geography Club

Geography Club is a club sponsored by the SUNY Geneseo Department of Geography and Sustainability Studies. Its goal is to provide students of Geneseo that have interest in the subject of geography an outlet for that passion. It does so by offering geographically applicable civil service events, referred to as mapathons, which aim to improve the mapping accuracy of the developing world. It also provides academic and career advisement sessions in peer and faculty advisement discussions, as well as fun and creative outlets in trivia nights, and game nights.

Caribbean Student Association

The Caribbean Student Association is dedicated to spreading awareness and educating about the Caribbean and Caribbean culture on campus. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and welcoming environment for Caribbean identifying students and all intersecting identities on campus.

Creative Writing Club at Geneseo

We'll decide who will be submitting for workshop each week. Submission is completely voluntary. Most likely it will be fiction, but we're opening the floor to poetry as well this semester. Afterwards we'll do some cool writing prompts and share them around the room. This club is totally for fun! People who take Creative Writing seriously are more than welcome (and encouraged) to join, but the meetings are perfect for any skill level.

Golden Key International Honour Society

The Golden Key National Honour Society was founded in 1977 at Georgia State University, and the SUNY Geneseo chapter was chartered in 1994. The purpose of the society is to provide a forum for recognizing all exceptional students, regardless of their major or their level of involvement in campus activities. The SUNY Geneseo chapter extends invitations for membership each January to the top 15% of juniors and seniors (students with more than 60 credits). There are many benefits to membership in Golden Key. Newly inducted members pay a one-time membership fee, and are then entitled to participate in all Golden Key activities. In addition to being a resume builder, Golden Key membership offers chances at valuable leadership opportunities; chances to publish creative work in the society magazine, Concepts; and access to a wide network of advisors, alumni, and honorary members. Golden Key members receive access to Golden Key's Online Career Library, discounts to Kaplan Test Courses, and access to numerous national scholarship opportunities in all areas of academic and creative work. SUNY Geneseo's Golden Key chapter annually presents two scholarships: one to an outstanding new inductee, and one to an outstanding active member. Finally, the national organization also awards research grants and study abroad scholarships to qualified members. Our chapter focuses on providing academic service in the community of Geneseo and in the greater Livingston county. We do this by running registration workshops for freshman in the fall, reading to or with nearby elementary students, and supporting higher education in local high schools. We also participate in non-academically focused service activities, like Make-A-Difference Day, the Day of Caring, fundraising for the Livingston County Cares project, and Adopt-A-Family. We are a non-SA funded organization with a great deal of flexibility and resources. Our activities depend on the perceived needs of the community. If you have any suggestions for activities, feel free to contact us! If you are a recent invitee, please feel free to email chapter officers any questions you may have about Golden Key membership. If you are a student with less than 60 credits, please make Golden Key membership a goal to strive for in the future!

Original Xpressions (OGX)

The OGX Dance Team’s purpose is to extend our love for dance to the Geneseo campus and community. Our intentions are to welcome students who don’t exactly fit in with modern and contemporary movements. We feel that the OGX Dance Team will offer another style of dance that will allow students not only from the urban areas of New York but including students of every culture to appreciate dance. The OGX Dance Team would like to perform at events hosted by Geneseo clubs such as talent shows, cultural dinners, Relay For Life, Geneseo Great Day. We host our own events and workshops throughout the school year. We partake in WOW and GLK programming. We also host a Spring Dance Showcase in which we portray our talents and host other Culture clubs or outside teams. We like to host activities in which we promote being active and traveling to nearby to spread our love for urban and cultural dancing. The purpose of the organization is consistent with the mission of the College.

TEDxSUNYGeneseo

The purpose of the club shall be to facilitate the organization of various TEDx events, including, but not limited to, TEDx University events and TEDx Salon events. These events will serve the purpose of fostering the sharing and developing of ideas between campus members as well as the greater global population.
