Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

Programming and Data Science Club

The Programming and Data Science Club of SUNY Geneseo offers a fun and educational environment for students and community members alike to pursue their interests in computer science, data science, and technology. Our club also functions as a resource for students that need help learning any of the programming languages that they'll find in their classes at Geneseo. As a club, we've traveled to different computing/data competitions across New York and done very well. We've received awards and praise from HackUpstate, Google, and the American Statistical Association at their DataFest competition. Some of the club's goals include spreading the wealth of computing knowledge to the Geneseo community, continuing to do well at these regional competitions, and getting more community members interested in the exciting and useful world of computer and data science.

Chemistry Club

The purpose of Chemistry club is to provide Geneseo students of all majors and backgrounds an opportunity to come together and celebrate the science of chemistry in a fun and informative way. Chemistry club aims to provide students with peer advice and an opportunity to learn about possibilities of a future in chemistry. Chemistry club hopes to help students become better students and citizens. Some of our events include informative presentations on career options in science, research opportunities, and talks from various people in the scientific community. In addition, we host fun events to get students involved in science and the geneseo community, such as de-stressing events, demonstrations, and hands on projects.

Psi Chi: The International Honor Society in Psychology

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. The mission of Psi Chi is to foster the development of well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible members committed to contributing to the science and profession of psychology and to society in general. Membership is open to Geneseo students who are psychology majors and who meet the qualifications. We strive to advance the science and the profession of psychology, promote an educational experience consistent with the mission, promote ethical and socially responsible members and leaders, define and establish an organizational structure that promotes our mission, and recognize and foster the contributions that diversity makes to the science and practice of psychology.

Physics & Astronomy Club

The purpose of the Physics & Astronomy Club is to bring members of the Geneseo community together and to enrich the recognition of physics in everyday life. We host a plethora of events to promote scientific enthusiasm in the campus community; these events include (but are not limited to) research presentation nights, physics game nights, and a physics picnic held each year with the Geneseo Physics Department. In addition, we collaborate with other science organizations on campus (i.e. the Geology Club).
