Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!
With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.
A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.
Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.
Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

Sigma Tau DeltaSigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, has over 900 active chapters both in the United States and abroad. Sigma Tau Delta's goals are to promote and improve all aspects of the English discipline, promote literacy, and provide members a sense of community. Becoming a member of the Geneseo chapter confers the distinction of achievement in the area of English Literature and Creative Writing. We aim to foster community through literature, language, and writing. We also want to promote literacy and service-learning by volunteering with groups whose mission we share in. Finally, we want our students to be examples of academic excellence, good character, and citizenship. Every year, we devote our efforts to initiatives that promote literacy and learning in our community. Some of these commitments we devote ourselves to for just one year, but many of them we revisit each year due to their high rate of success and engagement. Some of these initiatives include volunteering with the annual Rochester Children’s Book Festival; helping members receive funding and prepare their work to present at the national Sigma Tau Delta Convention; running book exchanges; collecting presents during the holidays for families in need; dominating to and raising awareness of a variety of charities whole goals align with our values; and more!

Exit 8 AcapellaExit 8 is Geneseo’s first all gender acapella group, performing at Geneseo’s all-acapella concert, invitationals, festivals, the ICCA’s (International Championship of Collegiate Acapella), and more, Exit 8 is focused on bringing people together over their love of music! We rehearse twice a week in preparation for our concerts on Geneseo’s campus as well as the gigs we are invited to throughout the year. Exit 8 performs a wide variety of musical genres and strives to create a welcoming environment for all students!

Common Hope at GeneseoThe purpose of Common Hope is to aid the parent organization in its goals of promoting health, wellness, and educational opportunities in Guatemala by means of volunteerism, donations, and fundraising.

American Cancer SocietyA worldwide voluntary organization that is committed to raising money for cancer treatments, research, and patients, and helping to educate people on all the effects of cancer and the specifics. Schools, universities, churches, and other organizations participate in a Relay for Life event. This event helps raise money for the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life lets people become more educated. We remember those who are still fighting, those who have passed but not forgotten, and those who have won the battle against cancer.

Japanese Culture ClubJapanese Culture Club exists to promote relations between members of the club and the community through the exploration of Japanese culture. We act as a bridge between Japanese, American, and any culture with the intention to exchange cultural views and to dispel stereotypes. We have often collaborated with other culture clubs on campus through events providing food, stage performances, and more to highlight fascinating similarities and differences between different groups of peoples around the world.

Memories Campaign at GeneseoMemories Campaign is oral history program—in collaboration with the Geneseo English Department and the Livingston County Office of the Aging—devoted to recording the folk traditions and history of the SUNY Geneseo community. Student volunteers will be trained in recording and transcribing dialects and dialogue, managing self-limiting stories and emphasizing self-empowering stories, and publishing recorded oral histories of Senior citizens in the Geneseo community. The club will contribute magazines to the college highlighting their work with each Senior citizen.

Women's Club Ice HockeyGeneseo Women’s Club Ice Hockey seeks to compete with college level athletes from other schools, engage in competitive and respectful play, and increase the awareness of the sport of women’s ice hockey. We practice twice a week and have games on weekends.

Theta ChiTheta Chi is one of the oldest men’s college fraternities in North America. Founded in 1856, Theta Chi Fraternity is a men’s collegiate fraternity with more than 200,000 initiated members and has established 245 chapters. Theta Chi’s mission is to develop college-age men into successful students, good citizens, lifelong brothers, and resolute leaders. Founded on the principle of friendship through the mutual assistance of every member, Theta Chi aims to provide its members with an enjoyable and fulfilling collegiate experience that also prepares them for rewarding, successful lives after graduation.

Friends of Recreation, Conservation, and Environmental StewardshipThe FORCES program and name is defined by several of the elements below: FRIENDS Students and community members seeking new and interesting experiences, with a willingness to help improve their local parks and historic sites RECREATION This "force" contributes to patron education on different forms of and ways to recreate; improvement projects and maintenance that enhance hiking and sporting activities in NYS parks. It also reflects the philosophy that patrons who participate in recreational activities are more likely to appreciate and want to protect the environments where they take place. CONSERVATION At FORCES we also focus our efforts on conserving and protecting the rich heritage and culture found in NYS historic sites and other unique areas. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP In addition, FORCES directly involves environmental projects and education that benefit the parks. Educational and environmental projects include invasive species management, plant and wildlife protection, water quality assessment and trail improvement.
