RKids was developed from a community collaboration seeking to support third, fourth, and fifth graders from Geneseo Central School. Initially run out of St. Michael's Presbyterian Church, the program received the support of AmeriCorps VISTA in 2017 and moved to the Geneseo campus and the office of student volunteerism and community engagement. After the three years of AmeriCorps members facilitating the program, RKids is now a student-led initiative of the office that relies on student volunteers to directly work with and engage the school-aged children.

This dynamic afterschool tutoring and enrichment program fosters confidence, competence, and a sense of community connection among students and families in the village of Geneseo. RKids students meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5:00 pm at the Geneseo Interfaith Center, 11 Franklin St.

Children engage in diverse programming that includes homework help, educational games and activities, visits from student clubs and College departments, creativity, and field trips to places on campus and in the local community. Students enrolled in RKids benefit from a 1:1 student to tutor ratio, access to college resources, and a curriculum built around their interests.
