Orientation & WOW Schedule of Events 2020

Orientation at Geneseo helps transition first year and transfer students to the next steps of their academic and life  journeys. The purpose of orientation is to facilitate opportunities for students to acclimate to campus, create positive and inclusive connections, foster a sense of pride in Geneseo and establish a foundation for academic success. The aim of Orientation, including Weeks of Welcome, is to lay the groundwork for the rest of your college experience.

Weeks of Welcome (WOW) is the official start of a new academic year. It's a transitional time when students get to know the campus community and prepare for their academic endeavors.

The activities and events offered in the first weeks of the semester help incoming students build personal connections with other students, faculty and staff, and promote a sense of belonging. Participation in Weeks of Welcome is a great way for new students to dive into the Geneseo experience. While it may look different this year, it will be just as meaningful!

Fall 2020 Update: Due to additional planning requirements related to COVID-19, the Fall 2020 Weeks of Welcome schedule is a living schedule, and will be updated daily. Please check back often for updates. Thank you for your patience!

All in-person events on the schedule below will adhere to the GENESEO RESTART, NYS and CDC guidelines.

  • Please watch your distance, stay at least 6 feet apart from others, when possible.
  • Please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Please wear a face mask in public spaces and common areas.

G-Photo

Every year on move-in weekend we have a tradition of gathering our first-year students at the college stadium in the shape of a giant, human G. Obviously, this year is a little different and we can't gather in such a large group, but we still want to show off the amazing Class of 2024! Students from the Class of 2024 submitted photos of themselves over the summer to contribute to this mosaic in place of the physical human G. We look forward to looking back on this photo during your senior year.
