A New College Stadium is much anticipated for SUNY Geneseo. The location of the new stadium will be where the existing Holcomb Building is presently located. Once the Holcomb Building is taken down, a new lighted, 2000 seat, synthetic turf stadium will be constructed. The stadium field will include a scoreboard, pressbox building with VIP suites, pavilion, a athletic support building (team rooms, showers and toilets), and a spectator support building (public toilets, concessions, storage and maintenance). Pedestrian access will flow thru the center of the site via a concourse (promenade) from Merritt Athletic Center (north) to a new parking area (south). Vehicular traffic will flow in an east/west direction via College Drive which may be reconstructed with a center boulevard and landscape plantings. The boulevard will only be kept in the project if there are sufficient project funds. The grandstands will be pre-engineered aluminum decking and risers on a steel superstructure. The support buildings will be one-story masonry and brick veneer construction. Site improvements at the stadium include new access drives and parking for 215 vehicles. A new pedestrian plaza will be constructed in front of Merritt Athletic Center, which will then lead down to the new pedestrian concourse (promenade) of the stadium. New concrete sidewalks will be constructed to connect the parking areas to the stadium, and handicap accessible walks/paths will be provided throughout the site. LEED Components: |
