KDP Epsilon Tau Chapter: Service
Education is a vital force in any society that encourages universal welfare
and individual progress. Education is likewise the cornerstone of democracy
and the foundation for personal fulfillment. As an International
Honor Society in Education, Kappa Delta Pi has adopted and continues
to pledge fidelity to four cherished ideals: Humanity, Science, Service,
and Toil.
A major incentive of the great teachers of the world has always been their desire to serve learners of all ages, classes, and races. Kadelpians pledge fidelity to Service as they enable learners and communities, through education, to achieve justice, peace, and a better quality of life for persons everywhere.
As such, the Epsilon Tau Chapter requires you to participate on a Committee
and offers the following community service opportunities:
Short-term Projects-
- Pajamas and Paperbacks- Join us for cookies and milk
as we read favorite bedtime stories to local elementary school students.
Participating students each receive a paperback book to take home. See
pictures from last year's event.
- School of Education Art Contest- K-12 students from
local area schools are invited to submit art work. Members frame and display
submissions in the Ella Cline Shear School of Education and host a reception
for past and present winners. See pictures from last year's event.
- Wadsworth Library- In collaboration with Wadsworth
Library staff, members assist with program presentation for early childhood
students. While adolescent majors are given the opportunity to tutor high
school students.
- Induction Ceremony Assistance- Members assist in the
planning and running of the induction ceremony.
Long-term Projects-
- ESL Project- Members tutor SUNY Geneseo International
students in English language and writing skills.
- Pen Pal Program- Members correspond with three 4th
grade classrooms in Rochester City School District’s School 41.
